My mini is being attacked!

I can tell you this, they bite!

I\'m like Vike, they showed up where I live about 4 years ago and they get worse every year..as it warms up this spring they will swarm. The little buggers have a nack for finding their way into my house too and they get everywhere.. worse at night when they buzz the lights..

The weird thing is that the entire system is completely arbitrary, and while one scientist might think something is simply a morph of one species, another will classify them differently... even when the DNA has been tested not everybody agrees, and \"different species\" can interbreed. It\'s all rather confusing, but as you say, interesting stuff. I like searching different dendrobatid species on google images, and seeing the immense variety that comes up - those frogs are crazy! lol

ahem :flame: it is soooo not arbitrary (difficult, yes, but accurate when done correctly) - i hope you are mistaking flaws in the anceant linnaean taxinomic system for those of modern systematics. in any case, i believe that this is indeed the asian variety, both because its behavior reflects the behavior of the asian variety, and, more importantly the distinct black-on-white \"M\" shape on the thorax.

Indeed, a mini attacking cat can cause a lot more damage.... but, maybe the beetle would only attract more cats.

Damn. Now I wish the mini had been all finished up; I might have tried it just to see what kind of comments/rating I got.

I got so tired of them I started painting numbers on them every time they would appear on my painting table.

I have yet to recapture a numbered ladybug, just keep getting unique visitors.

Now that is funny. I love the idea of one of your neighbors wondering why the beetle they just found has a number on it.

The other bug that has been infesting lately is the Box Elder bug... They \'bug\' me while I\'m painting as well....

I have began torturing them as a warning to thier friends, but they aren\'t passing the memo along.

Those are easy to deal with as my cat finds them rather tasty. Unfortunately she won\'t eat the ladybugs.

If they are the \'orange ones\' thats because they are Asian Beetles and probably taste awful...Whatever they secrete smells terrible....I believe that is the problem...even the birds won\'t eat them...so they keep flourishing, while our beloved Red Ladybugs are now seemingly a thing of the past....
