My minis...

Hi.

I might as well introduce myself first...

My name is Kyle, I\'m 15 and I\'m a good friend of Dragonsreach.

I know he\'s mentioned me before, so I\'ll say thanks for that, and those compliaments he\'s given me...

I began painting just to play at the end of 2001 with the release of FOTR.

It was only with the release of TTT when began painting seriously after Mike saw my Eomer model...

Anyway, I\'ve been painting seriously ever since and recently entered some models in Conflict Manchester- a Grey Knight, an LOTR Elf and a Goblin.

The Grey Knight and LOTR Elf both won D).

Finally, they can now be viewed here along with Gollum which won last year\'s battle scene (it was on a base with Frodo)-

Hi Kyle and welcome.
Mike has mentioned you and your minis are very good.I left a message in the shout box if your night was metallic or nmm(thought Mike might have twisted your arm in the metallic department).I can see now its nmm.As for advice on this its really well blended but I think thats where we get problems.I think some sharp pure white light reflections off corners etc really finish off nmm.
Yeh your Gollum mini suffered the green cast.The blue robe on the elf needs a extra highlight or maybe more shadow.
Overall they are very good and if you keep it up youll be up there with your mentor very soon.
Its funny but it was my girlfriend who got me back into mini painting when she got me TTT boxed set.Ive still got a pile of plastics to paint up.

Regarding the Knight- I just need to practise...

I did notice the highlight issue with the Elf, though...

Yeh the elf robe looks brighter,makes me think it will look a lot better in person.As for practising for the night its easy to see you have good brush control and know how to paint well.It seems you just need to learn the techniques that make the mini \"pop\" out.Things that none of us knew until we found this site.

Well I\'m glad to see that Kyle has finally got some good figures up on the site. I\'d mentoned CMON to him quite a while ago and thought that:-
A) he\'d learn a few tricks more from here
B) he\'d get reasonable scores and good feedback from a lot of other quality painters

However, that was before I saw the LOTR Elf and Grey Knight. Ah well we all make mistakes!

One thing about him, he may be young but he\'s no Brat about his painting.
Now where\'s me damn hammer!!!!lol

Great work. Don\'t worry about being slow, I have some minis I\'ve been working on for years.

I noticed you put lettering on the book on the GK marines chest, do you have a bionic eye? Or did you just borrow Dragonsreach\'s magnifying glasses? lol

Besides which at his age he doesn\'t need glasses, just has to stock up on bandages for his fingers.

Welome to the wonderful, addictive world of painting minis. The forums here are full of good painters with good advise but you have to be careful because nobody takes themselves too seriously here.
