I\'ve decided to repaint my girls, and want some feedback on my test figure.

couldn\'t see the pic, so I did a quick auto fix.

Subject is still not well lit, but I like the gold/silver. I think you need some smoke (vellajo or tamaya) or thin inks to help define the metals. Ask Tiddico, he is the resident expert on metals.

I still haven\'t painted the imperial eagle thinging on the left shoulder. I can\'t decide on a color, and am currently debating red.

Just my opinion, but metals only look good with strong contrast. You need some inks on those metals! Be careful though, water down your inks and apply many coats/washes, otherwise it will look blotchy.

I have to agree with Petey, Gold and other metallics need strong contrast to define the colour properly.
There are many choices:
Wash with Dilute Dark Flesh (Nearest GW to Burnt Sienna)
Wash with Diluted Inks.) Brown or Flesh Wask)
Or for the characters you could use an antique approach and wash with a dilute Catachan green and then re-highlight.

Whiuch ever way you choose you need to ensure that the Paint/ink you dilute is something like 10-20 times more dilute than you would normaly consider for your paints.
Remember many light coats work better than one thick. :D
