Hello all !

I think the title of the subjetc is simple ^^ !
I want to host all my new stuff but i only get a message :


Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/coolmini/public_html/thumbnail.php on line 159


As my pictures are hosted on my website, and as i only get the URL to upload it, that the pics are at the same size and weight as I usually uploaded by past on cmon, what happen ?

After trying and trying sometimes it take one, and sometimes not... but as i want to upload all in one moment, it\'s just to know if some of you get the same problem or not ?

I\'ve just approved several posted images by you. Mostly Golden Deamon trophy winners, so hopefully that is all you posted up today. I\'ll keep an eye open for anything else appearing in the database.

The error you have encountered has occurred several times, with differing code lines for me, while approving comments or images. Thankfully it appears to occurr after accepting the action so things are OK.

I don\'t know if it\'s the size, but i check and have see higher size pics on cmon this week that have been upload, so don\'t understand why it don\'t work.

Oh and the pics that have been activated have alerady started beeing snipe by like 4 or 5 rating score.

So happy to see that intelligent people still waste their time on CMON again !

A little LOTR painted in 6/7 hours. The base is a bit strange, but as I didn’t find a clean way to take Denethor on the wood without having a lot of holes between the mini and the wood, I had to find another way to keep my idea without having something too ugly!

Dark elves unit :

This is the unit I take to French Golden Demon this year. For the story, and as always for French GD, I didn’t wanted to make a project that would take me time, just a Lord of the Ring paint in few hours to come with something. But some of my friends told me about my less investment for French contest in comparison with the entries I take on others countries. So by talking and talking, we come to a sort of stupid contest about “What is the biggest project are you able to do in few days before the GD?”
The answer was: A mounted unit! More it was stupid, more it was fun!
So this is the result of six days of work, two of assembling, four of painting. The champion was painted before but he was mostly repainted during the work of the four others. And this is without the creation of the display base!
Totally destroy at the end; I finished the entry on place the D day! But it was fun and I’m happy of the result!

My first truly full 100% sculpt. To be sure being a bit mad, I suppose started with a Female Humanoïde will be the easiest thing to do… Ahem… Even if I take a lot of pleasure making the anatomy, I make all the rest very very too fast. All the sculpt part is made in 8-9h… for a 54mm it’s sure at my level it’s very not enough. The only thing I know with that try is that Sculpey Firm is just a God present. And for sure I’ll take the time I need for my next sculpt, and with this putty!

I always dream to win a demon in Single 40K category… now this dream become true! So even if I know that this mini is full of error, in fact totally full of errors, in terms of composition and painting, it’ll always be one of my favourite minis. More when I think that I made it in two days!

PHP.ini runs all the setup scripts for PHP for the server. It tells the server many things, including how long to allow a PHP script to run before stopping it to prevent from excess server stress, and potential downtime of other users due to processor use.

The default and most common need is 30 seconds.

So, that error is quite common when PHP runs into something that takes more than 30 seconds. A site administrator would need to adjust the maximum execution time in the PHP setting, if they feel they want to allow PHP longer times to perform its functions per script. This is unlikely for many sites, and probably hear as well, as the server load would be too great if PHP is allowed to just run forever.

It is one of the faults of PHP, but great that it is built in to keep servers using PHP stable and running, rather than freeze and crash.

IF you have images that are a little bigger, or your connection to CMoN is a little slow, this could cause the max execution time to kick in because your upload speed may be throttle form your ISP. Not uncommon currently with what is going on in the internet world.

You may want to wait a while and see if it will upload again later when you have a stronger connection to CMoN.

Depending on your ISP, there are several ways to check how strong your connection is, if you would like to know, and you can use that to tell you when good times are to try to upload images so you don\'t \"lag\" when trying to upload an image and reach the max allowed execution time in the PHP script.

I know this info doesn\'t help much in getting your image here on CMoN, but hope it helped explain the error that you may see on any website using PHP, and to let you know you are not alone in seeing this error, and it isn\'t really something you did to get the error, but many possible things that could have caused it.

If you want instructions to check your connection to CMoN, just let me know, and tell me what OS you use, and if not familiar, I will find a way, or give you an online website to help you check your connection to see if it will help with your uploads to any website.

EDIT: the images and minis look great, I didn\'t see them the first time I clicked reply here. ???

After making my Chaos Giant I was thinking about making a version 2.0, but a « good one » this time. By chance, Miniature Mentor contacted me after UKGD08 to make a DVD about Giant painting. Sometimes calendar of different peoples seems to be lucky for everyone! So I came to Toulouse and paint all skins and face of this giant under MM video camera! http://www.miniaturementor.com/painting_tutorials.html

There is nothing really special about the making of the mini, expect that it was painted two time faster than the giant’s one. So for 50h, with a result in hand three time better lol!
But for sure this one is the last giant I ever made…. I suppose ^^!

Some really nice work their Julien really like the dark elves, great stuff with the time constraint same with the denethor.

The eldar sculpt is a bit odd as it looks like her belly button is below the bum and more in the position as where her vagina should be. I dont know if you intended it too be this way or not but it just makes her stomach seem disproportionate and elongated. I think that also corresponds to the line from the hips down, these would be pelvic lines and look out of place considering how low the belly button is.

Saying that i have never witnessed an eldar female naked so could be completely wrong

Does the administration of Cmon or any database can detected who are the snipers of this website ?

As Banshee, i\'m very sad to see that near a year without posting, the only thing i refind here are snipers that start there job just at the activation of the minis.

In one single vote the giant loose 0.5.
I don\'t even speek about all the minis that start at 10, and was at 6 with the vote number 2, wich mean a 2 rating score.

During a discussion with my girlfriend the only thing she said at the end was to erase all my gallerie and all the minis I post here because this is not normal, but it\'ll only make this few stupid people won the game.

I know that people working on their time on Cmon make a great stuff and are not the cause of this, but it\'s so sad to see that nothing is really do to discourage snipers here, and that at the end, it\'s them that always won.

Look at Banshee last ogryn, he is at 9.3, and was at 9.8 at the start, but the mini will never have the score it deserved.

Again I\'m a so sad to only see that at my return on CMON after loose a big part of the day to succeed uploading the pics.

And i really just want to open a real discussion about what can be make to stop this disease here...

I must say, absolutely flawless work there Julien, the giant is perfect and I actually do not see how you could improve it. A straight 10 from me. I am also totally with you on the sniper issue. I believe that I have been a victim of these loathesome sharp-shooters myself before, and I have just replied to another thread where another member was convinced of this foul play on thier miniature. It is a problem with the system and there has been conversations about similar issues before, but I am not sure what has been (or will be) done about it.

Whilst I can\'t help the sniper situation, what I wanted to say was I bought the Giant skin mini mentor DVD a month or two ago and I\'ve found it so useful, it\'s brilliant. It\'s really improved my painting and it\'s great to see someone who really knows what they\'re doing painting.

The PMs on this website are way too small, and impossible to give info like computer commands so they can be read.

The commands you are wanting to try to use are:

ping www.coolminiornot.com

That is one line command. Ping is the command, and you can put any website after it. Examples:

ping www.google.com
ping www.microsoft.com
ping www.myspace.com

ANY website can go after ping to check your connection to it.

Same goes for tracert:

tracert www.coolminiornot.com

That will tell you every connection being made along the way form you to CMoN. the speeds are in milliseconds. If you see an * for all three speeds, that means your connection to the website is a bit weak, probably because that exact connection is having some problems.

It will say \"Request timed out\", which means just try again later when the connection is better to that website.

That is the easiest way to tell how good a connection you have to any website.

As sad as this is, those truly blatant \"sniping\" scores will be removed when the mini reaches 50 votes, as there is a filter built in that removes anomalies like these. But, that filter only deals with the obvious cases, sadly.

True! I think it is better to keep posting your stuff here, regardless of what happens to the scores, so that CMON continues to be a place where you can see the work of as many people as possible. You can always set up a personal gallery somewhere else, but it is nice to have a place like CMON with so much under the same roof. Besides, you don\'t need the scores to verify what a good painter you are.

It is always difficult to say if 9.3 or 9.8 is the \"correct\" vote. Had it been at 7.5 I think everyone could see that it is not a deserving score, but over 9 it becomes more difficult to say... I mean, people\'s opinions do differ, and different people judge things based on different things.

The best way to \"solve\" this problem is to get more people to vote. People that vote fairly, that is... The more votes a mini gets, the less will the sniping votes affect the average score. So, encourage as many of your friends as possible to vote, and preferably, not only on your minis... I think that is the only way to improve the situation, without seriously changing how CMON works, and how the site was intended from the first place.

Wonderful stuff.... love all of it. For some wierd reason the part of ALL the painting displayed that got my attention the modt is the hair on the belly of the one giant leading to his junk. So I think your painting was so effective it may have turned me gay. So thanks for that!

Seriously I would really love to here how you got the effect of the hair around the navel leading to the waistline on the one giant. I am painting a mini now that I really wanted to do something like that on but I am stumped.

I also agree with Ritual that any score over a 9 represents one of the premiere paint jobs on the planet. A score fo 9.3 vs. 9.8 from what I have seen doesn\'t neccessarily mean one is painted better technically but it could be down to model selection, basing preferences etc. but even getting the CMON community to click the \"9\" button means it\'s an AMAZING piece fo work. Just my opinion.

For the hair of the belly in fact it\'s not difficult.
You draw a cental line.
After with a dilute paint, you draw hair from left to right, always starting from the central line.

If the hair is too large or a bit ugly, you \"erase\" it by using your brush with water before it\'s dry.

It\'s not very difficult but it just need calm and patience. !
