Greetings CMON. This is my latest miniature, which was painted as my part of a miniature exchange on the Reaper forums, I am mailing her off later this week most likely. She is a Sandra Garrity sculpt and was a joy to paint. I hope you all enjoy, please feel free to leave comments and constructive critiques please! Cheers!

Please vote also, if you don't mind. http://coolminiornot.com/254763

Very nice miniature! The hair came out very well and is quite striking. For constructive critique, I'd say maybe one more layer of highlight on the face to bring out the chin and cheekbones more. Did you use metallics or NMM for your gold?

The gold is done using GW shinin gold and black and brown washes, with some shining gold and mithril silver mixed for highlights in some areas. Thanks for the comments!

Very nice work. I've painted a few Garrity sculpts, and getting the eyes can be a challenge. you've done that well. I do agree with that another layer of highlights, esp on the chin, cheeks and forehead would help the face pop a little more. Also, the blade of the sword has a very dull, unfinished look. It almost looks like wrought iron versus forged. was that intentional? If not, then some additional washeds and highlights on the blade will help it stand out as well. I very much appreciate that you use metallics instead of NMM.

Very nice work over all. now off to vote for you...

Cheers, Grumb

Thanks for the comments all.

@ Grumb, yes the blade is a bit dull, I could not get it to look the way I wanted it to look. I need to work a bit more on my metallics. I love using true metallics, I just need more practice to get to the level I want to be at.

@ Supervike, Yes she has a lot of hair, she must be southern lol. I agree that more contrast would be better, I am still working on getting more contrast without making my highlights look silly and out of place.

Again, thanks for the kind comments.

I think you did a great job overall especially on the eyes. In the top left pic the sword looks a little dull but has a nice shine in the bottom left. Maybe a little tweek with a photo enhancement program would do the trick. what kind of base is that?

Goblinhood, the base is a wooden disk that I bought at Michaels art store. They come 3 to a pack for 1.50$ so they are much cheaper than regular bases and I like working on the much better. They are soft enough to drill into with a pin vise for pinning but sturdy enough to not dent too easily. They come unpainted of course, but I find they are great display bases and they have them in sizes from 30-60mm.

I like this as I think you really did a solid slightly above table top job. My only thing on her is that in looking I can tell you examined where the light would hit(which is great as not many people do) but you didn't do this at all on the scabard even though you have a lighter coloring on the pants right next to it. All in all though I love the face and great job.

I gotta say, I like the face the way it is, it looks softer that way...I think further highlighting would make it look too harsh. Great eyes too, wish I could do that. Love the hair, looks a very natural color. Overall its a really nice job.
