My Quasi-Lucky Day

A local shop posted a \'Going Out of Business\' sign in the window with the last day being Dec 23rd. So I went in last night and offered to buy all their minis at 40% off (I should have gone higher but the owner is a psuedo-friend of mine for some 18 years now). Anyway, the inventory wasn\'t super impressive (in fact quite a bit smaller than my personal collection) but I did acquire 8ish GW box sets, and 80ish blisters which were mostly Reaper but some GW and some \'Legends of the Five Rings\' (didn\'t even bother to check the manufacturer of those and have no idea what they are). Looks like at the next ME there will be some Five Rings minis going out.

I\'m going back today to pick up the mini display racks which I\'ll setup in my basement so I can tack my unopened mini blisters on the wall.

Awesome find.

My best find like this was in Chatham about an hour from here. Went in looking for used roleplaying and didn\'t find the usual bin of stuff. When asked, they said they were getting out of roleplaying and that the used stuff was up front \"to get rid of\". They had 2 long comic boxes full of stuff.

I offered them $40 for the lot of it and they said \"hell no! We were going to toss that stuff, if you want it and can use it take !\" So I ended up with two comic boxes of RPG stuff.

Most of it was Palladium, Shatterzone and other out of print stuff, but I did get some cool old Rolemaster and early D20 stuff.

Heh, well done. Always a nice surprise when fortune smiles on you that way. You\'re going to have some fun trying to paint all that. lol

I recall some years back wandering into a Toymaster a few towns over that was shutting down and finding Games Workshop boxes for a fiver (back when they were £20 or £25). Got myself a ton metal Chaos Marines, Terminators, a few Bloodthirsters and some of the old big metal \'nids.

Rolemaster?! My folks and I used to play that when I was a kid, and I\'ve never heard of anybody using it since. We\'ve still got all of our old books. Not well made books, though. Binding glue dried up and all the pages are falling out. Lol. It was a fun system, though, and kinda nice to have so many skills (and points to spend on them), instead of the one 3/4 page column and 5 points to spend on the D&D.
