My quest not to suck

Hi Im sucks at painting. And yes i do suck at painting ...alot lol. In my quest to get better at painting Ive decided to paint every piece of terrain I can get my hands on, and reward myself with models when I get a couple done. I've come to Cmon to psot as you guys have a reputaion for excellance and honesty. First up the deathwatch knell that I have been working on. imo Ive finished the brick work but im open to things that will improve it.

Ok not a lot "wrong" with what I can see.
But to improve, think of weathering the stone work with darker rain marks from the edges of the windowsills, add faint traces of Green to simulate algae growth in those areas.
Possibly pick out one or two stones for gentle wash with Devlan mud, or Greyonne(?) Sepia.
The doors I'd suggest would look better as dark wood, think thinned Graveyard earth, allow to dry thoroughly and then a carefully applied wash of Scorched brown, then Scorched brown and Chaos Black mix around the edges of the metal frames.

A larger picture to comment on :) Sorry I had to wait till the wife got home to take larger pictures. I haven't figured out how to take larger pics with my phone yet. I started base coating the large skulls, capstones and the metal. Hmmm looking at the picture I'm going to have to bring up the metal on the door a bit. I over powered it with the rust.

Well, that's some decent stone going on right there, looks good man.

@Meph......Thanks

@10 Ball.....It looks better in the pics. Though for some reason I can paint stone lol wait till I do a figure your see what I mean.

I got tired of painting grey tonight so I painted the inside skull magic thingy purple. I did purple as I never really paint purple and I though that with the drab stone work it would blend better than if I did green or blue.

My wife gave it to her FGS to add to their fantasy terrain, and they gave me a brand new one. Well at least she will be happy with more terrain for their fantasy games. As a reward for finishing this piece I am painting a model that I have wanted to do for along time, the Fenbeast. Though I am already not happy with the paint job. One of these days I am going to have to force my brain and hands to work together and learn to blend. I can describe how to do it, but when the time comes for me to sit down and do it it is like I have a block and my brain and hands do not work together to do what I want. So I have 2 questions...what terrain piece should I paint next. And what model should I get to reward myself for finishing a terrain piece that I can force myself to blend on?
