My recently painted minis

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum here and wanted to share some of my minis that I have been painting over the last 2 years. I used to paint for armies in the 90's and gave up painting in 2000 then got back to hobby gaming/painting in 2007. In 2009 I met a few good Australian painters at a gaming tourney that had a local painting comp in it, and started getting tips on how to improve, I have now been entering the painting comps here with my stuff and have been happy with my results and improvement. I haven't added all these to my gallery yet, but I will in time. Just need to collage them together.

This is the link to my latest work. An entry for WFB single in the Australian Golden Demon 2011. The gallery has shots of more angles of this mini.

Here the foot broke of the base in transit home from the event, I've fixed it up now but I should have packed him better for the flight home.

Aha! I though the mods must have thought this too many pics and not approved it. I almost made another thread glad i didn't now.

Hey, welcome to the forums. Surprised that you haven't had more responses, seeing as how the thread has had 120+ views but there you go.

I like the orc a lot, very sweet paintjob. My personal preference would be for the skin to be slightly more varied in colouring, but that's just a taste thing.

The robot is a great little miniature, nicely done.

sorry - been lurking but not commenting. :)

You're clearly a painter who knows one end of a paintbrush from another. Of the minis youve posted I particularly like the base/rocks on the freebooter elf, the bath and water effects on the daemonette (although I really dont like the daemonette model itself. Not the paint job, mind you - the sculpt. The old metal ones were so much better. But I digress, and the sculpt aint your fault) and the banner on the skelly knights is also top notch. That Imbrian gobbo is a lovely model. I keep coming back to their site, dithering, and not buying stuff. One day soon I'll crack, I'm sure :)

Fantastic, this just makes me want to paint more. I agree the skeleton's banner is stunning and i just love the daemonette coming out of the blood bath. Keep up the good work

Thanks for the replys, the daemonette bloodbath was a last minute entry into GD Australia 2010 so I'm glad people like it even with the poor photography. I agree the orc is lacking in colour variaion and that shows as it only placed bronze in this years Australian GD (2011), I was so focused on getting my technique right I forgot to add a few glazes of colour in different areas of the skin so its not so monotone. Automaton and I had a shoot out for the placings in WFB this year, not that I am at the standard to beat him yet, but it was good to puch my smoothness to a higher level and stop from painting "safe" if you know what I'm trying to say. His banshee was so smooth..... He also gave me invaluable feedback on my entries this year.

I think its time I added the more pics to my gallery as I've been absent a little to long.
