My tightest deadline yet :s

This has come on in leaps and bounds! Good stuff! I'll address your points;
1/ The blood on the base you could do running down the corner maybe? Dripping down the stairs in a sort of cascade effect with a few smeared splotches here and there...or a boot print. Too much blood would ruin it though
2/ The battle damage is nicely done, but you have tooo much damage on it. I've found the "less is more" approach works best with battle damage. Need to remember this helm is also a revered artifact passed on from the primarch himself (must've had a pin head, but nevermind), I doubt they'd let it fall into a terrible state of disrepair so stick to field damage. As it stands , it looks like someone slapped him about with a maul while he just stood there blubbing and took it =P.
3/ By the "plastic bit" you mean the chipped concrete? I say keep it, it adds a nice bit of contrast to the cleaner base and it's really well done. Work on the Metal anchory bits though, the strips seem too uniform, maybe try and add stuff to them to make them look like clamps or something and you're all set!

All in all, it's coming along nicely, i'd work on the sword blade on the chapter symbol a bit more. Bit more light to dark contrast I think, it doesn't seem to pop as much as it really should beside the nice bone wings. Look forward to an update!

well, i've managed a bit more progress last night.
I've pretty much finished the base (apart from the blood)

As well as pretty much finish up one side of one wing, and seeing how it worked out.

And i like it, i'll just need to blackline the edge between the brown sections.
And i'll be working the blue area to include more white.
I've also decided to redo the helmet itself, removing most of the damage.

And the plastic bit is just a piece of white plastic from a large roll of paper. the chipped concrete effect, I'm afraid, is just patches where the paint did'nt adhere, creating patches.
I'm thinking about either:
1) working with the effect, strengthening it
2) removing the effect, adding enough layers of paint to get good coverage
3) replacing the bit with something else. this would mean finding something good to replace it with.

Today i'll be working on either the robe, or the helmet.
Update tomorrow.

I'd work with the effect on the lower base, it looks kina cool. Also, blackline the freehand icon to make it pop and tidy up the edges a bit, nice thin lines. Reckon that'll bring it right out. Helm is coming along nicely, keep it up =)

nice one nearly a month left too

Thanks for the compliment, but i'm afraid i've only got 4 days left :S

But I've made some headway (just no pictures >.<) the robe is about 75% done.

I hope to finish the robe as well as the scarf and a freehand design on the robe.

if i've got some time left, i'll be starting on the blood on the base... better start thinking on how i want to do that.....

I plan to post my progress again late tonight, but pictures will have to wait until tomorrow.

well, I've managed to finish the robe, and started on the scarf, i only need to smooth the transitions on it, and bring out the red line some more.

O.O

I might just make this deadline....

I'm pretty much done :D

the only things left are:
the wings (2,5 sides)
bloodying the base (hesitant about that one...)
cleaning up
glueing together
final checking :D

yes, that's right, i'm still not sure about the blood on the base, i just don't know...

I'm thinking about something like this: (NSFW offcourse!!!)
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/12/10/article-1093103-02A23336000005DC-731_468x726.jpg

starting by "sponging" on scab red (maybe mixed with a bit of scorched brown)
followed by mixing/blending scorched brown and blood red to form the body of the puddle.
then using the same technique paint the droplets and offshoots....

I'll be starting on the blood tomorrow (friday) night/evening so any tips before than would be appreciated.

i hope I'll be able to take (and post) some pics tomorrow morning, but i'll make sure i'll take some before i hand it in at the comp.... i promise

well, time for bed....

check back tomorrow :p

What's the deal with the gore? did a dog blow up or something?
i was thinking "after the battle", just after all the bodies have been cleared, but not the blood

so, a large pool, where a body has been, a bloodstain on the hazard striping (someone hit his head?) a couple of smears where the body was dragged away, and lastly, a couple splashes to indicate a fight....

the picture is of the police recruitment bombings in iraq or afghanistan some months ago (found it through google search)

And I've got a final update before starting on the gore.

I've redone the entire helmet (i've also pretty much finished the wings since taking these pics)
decided to paint the watcher's foot pre-heresy black. i was planning on nmm, but that did'nt look good on the grey concrete, green did'nt look right either, so black it is.

so, list time:
finish the wings (just some brown left)
highlight the cable on the helm
clean up the hood
clean up the robe
clean up the laurels
redrybrush the base (i sketched a freehand, some fortress grey should sort that out)
Bloody the base
clean up the freehand on the base
glue the watcher to the base

Final Check
Call it done :D:D:D

so, here goes, lets start on the base... check back for more updates

It's cirtainly getting there! Gonna need some matt varnish when you're done, it's very shiney!
One thing I would do, id darken the green of the help with some thin glazes, it looks more like salamanders green just now. Bit of black, DA green and catachan is my fave DA mix. Gives the nice dark look with sexy hilights.
Apart from that, it looks like you're heading in the right direction =D
