My two UK GD entries! (Finally!)

Hi all

Been without a computer for a couple of months now after my laptop blew up... so I\'ve now FINALLY managed to get my two UK Golden Demon entries up on CMON today...

This year was my first ever GD... I had great plans at the beginning of the year to enter four or five categories.... but in the end just didn\'t have time to get the entries finished.

The two minis below are what I did get finished... my 40K single entry, a Forgeworld Tech Priest model.... and my 40K monster entry, a Necron (C\'tan)Nightbringer....

I didn\'t expect to do too well having seen the entries from 05... but I watched the judging and was astounded to not only see both my models make it to the judging table.... but my Nightbringer was the final model to be de-selected as they chose the final three... I was amazed!!!

Anyway... here they are, Nightbringer first at:

And then the Tech-Priest at:

I\'ve started work on my GD 07 entries already... this time I WILL get four+ finished, and you never know, maybe I\'ll have a shot at a demon in 07?!!

As always... constructive criticism and comments appreciated.... I\'m on CMON to learn and would love to hear folks opinions.... good and bad.

Cheers!!!

Judges are judges and the justice they dispense is always justified but I would give this mini a GD just for the composition alone. It is very original and well executed.

These butterflies... how did you make them?

wow very nice, love the cloak.

a total different way to paint a mini I have seen done a few times already, yours is the best by a long way.

It immediatelly makes me think of the film The Mothman Prophecies, imagine your fella flying through your car! You\'d sh!t yourself!

The moth pattern is fantastic and the blending into the greys and darker shades is absolutely amazing.

The cloak on the Nightbringer is nothing short of amazing! Incredible work there.

The Tech-Priest is pretty cool and I like the base; all of those gears are really, really cool.

Excellent work on both and congrats on almost making it. Maybe in \'07, yeah?

Gave \'em a vote.

Cheers all, appreciate the positive comments.

It\'s hard to see the good bits of a mini when you\'ve been working on it so long, and a few bits haven\'t gone right... you end up just seeing the faults.

As for the butterflies/moths... happy to do a tutorial, though they are really very simple... where\'s the best place for it? here, or on the painting/conversion forum?

Cheers mate, hadn\'t even thought of that :)

Just submitted the article, doesn\'t look like I can submit \'techniques\' articles, so it\'s under sculpting. Will post a link once it\'s approved and up.

Cheers
