MY UKGD entry, needs better pics?

While I\'m not horrified by the rating (currently my best ever, fluctuating from 8.9 to 9.0 for the most part), I\'m curious if better pics would help the votes?

I was thinking some closer shots of the terminators, as well as possibly full 360degree views (rather than the 2 sides showing at the minute). The flipside of this is that it\'s going to make an image I already consider somewhat large, a great deal bigger, since closer shots would probably reduce me to one view per \'line\', turning it into an incredibly long image.

Is there a point where the physical size of the pic just becomes unreasonable? I\'d really have liked to show all sides and greater detail in the image I have up, but figured a 600*2000(almost)px image was pushing it as far as size went as it was.

The other option is to put each model up seperately, but I\'m not a huge fan of slicing up scenes when one pic can do, and would prefer if the squad was viewed \'in context\' rather than being voted on as though they were single mini\'s (which they aren\'t. They took around 25 hours each, but the over-arcing theme can only be noted when they are together).

I\'d greatly appreciate your thoughts on this.

Hopefully it\'s in the right section. Seemed more of a \'submission\' issue, than a \'photography\' issue.

I suck with Photos but to me these look OK.. A little bit bright in places loses some of the more subtle highlights visible in the flesh...But at the end of the day 8.9 - 9 I don\'t think the photos will make them any higher than that...stunning job btw...

Horrified by a 9.0? Alright, wow you are SURE getting robbed..

From what I can tell they are hovering around where they should be, maybe they should be .1 higher though.

Apologies if I came off as dissatisfied with the results at the minute, that definately wasn\'t my intention.

I was more curious if the shots of the individual mini\'s should have been of better quality (detail wise), since, due to the fine scale, it\'s not fantastically easy to spot the finer points of the paintjob, or give an accurate (or, as close to accurate as you can get when you\'re dealing with pixels) reflection of the work.

I\'m certainly not unhappy with it\'s rating in the slightest.

I think the pic is OK and the score is about right. Maybe if you did individual shots but I think the unit will always rate higher. Good luck

I\'d agree with what has been said. I very much like this piece but bare in mind - the colour scheme is simple, the inking is clearly visible, there\'s no multi-stage hilights, no complex freehand, and the basing is a bit out of character and simple (especially that awful moss stuff!).

The one bits that makes my go \'wow\' are the hammer effects, but that is a very small part of this unit. I have seen better pieces score less than this, and as someone recently wrote in another thread \"a nine is a wonderful and precious thing\" (paraphrased), it really needs to be impressive to get a nine.

Edit - ok, the actual question was about splitting the unit. I see no harm in adding single pics of each mini. I hate multi-pic galleries (where a person shows multiple shots of the same piece), but this is a different case. One single pic of each individual, then a group shot. I doubt it would increase the scores though.

I think your pictures are just fine. Perhaps if you also posted a couple of representative individual models (with link back to the unit pic) then you might show off some more.

Overall a stunning unit. The black is done extremely well as is the bone.
The robes also impress.

Well done, love the base, ties it all togeather nicely.

I would say the detailed shots at the bottom are a bit too small, as I cant see all the datails, but then again, my eyes are a bit shot
