Hello,

have placed my very first 54mm Mini from Andrea Miniatures. It`s an Greek Hoplite.
On the shield I have painted my first Freehand-Lion, too. I don\'t know whether the shield is historically correct, but I love lions.

I have painted with Acrylics and have used NMM on the Armour.
With the Lion I had an hard Time and this one costs lots o nerves ;-).

You can see the Pics here:

That is very nice work, I think the NMM on the armour needs to go up a touch with lighter highlights and the inside of the lion\'s mouth is a little too bright but the paintwork is excellent and the freehand on the lion is very nice. I also very much like the cloak that is very well done.
As for lions being historicaly correct I don\'t know but I do know that many ancient warriors used to adorn their shields with images that meant something speacial to them so why not.

Have more layers done to the armour and darken the lions mouth a bit more.

Aw I love Greek hoplites! You did an outstanding job on it by the way. As for the accuracy of a lion on it, I have a book on Alexander the Great and his armies and all the shields have paintings of different faces and it seems like there was no set design for their shields. You did a great job painting the lion as well. I am looking right now online to buy one of these (as you have inspired me!).

**Edit**Just ordered it!
