My White Dwarf miniature

Here is a better photograph of my white dwarf entry. Some may remember him as my entry into the best painter in the world competition recently won by Tidco.

I was absolutley baffled as to why, after 50 votes, he is only given a 6.6 score, and could only put it down to poor photography.

If you disagree, and believe that a 6 is a fair score for this miniature, please tell me why- I\'m a big boy and take criticisms constructivley, also any advice on improvement would be welcome.

Cheers for your time and honesty.:(

i cant understand it either. The pics are very close up but there are no noticable huge mistakes.I think some of my minis have been under rated as well but oh well

I don\'t get it either. Easy 7. Borderline 8. I tend to round in voting, so it would have been an 8 for me if I could find it. I tried to find the old image in your image list but it\'s not there... did you delete it?

Things good: the gums. The basing. The gems. The blending on the horn. THe highlighting on the face.

Things not so great: the deliniation between the gloves and other things. Whatever is going on with the keg tap.

This would rate maybe 7.5 for me. Alot of good stuff as has been mentioned. I really love the gems. But the thing that kills the score I think is the hair and beard. It is inconsistent in shading and high light. As it is a big part of the mini I would suggest a little more work on it. Its still a great paint job over all tho.

Heres the original picture, which may explain the low score!

Thanks for all your comments and advice, I totally agree with the lining on the gauntlets, and that more work needs to be done on the beard (as wes pointed out this is a real focal point). I never spotted these flaws until the picture was blown uo to 5 times the miniatures size! Thats just a stray bit of static grass on the keg tap, which has now been removed. Also looking at it this big I feel the armour scales could benifit from more work too.
