Sent from a laptop with three broken keys, sorry for any typos!

So anyway, I'm new as you can probably tell. Looking to take my painting to the next level.

I've been painting approx. 2 years, since age 12. So that puts me at...14. Dang I'm getting old. No wonder I'm stiff these days...

Anyhoo, just looking for general tips on what I can do different to improve my paintibh....

here's some examples of some pieces I have in progress on my desk. Most have been lying there for a while....

Oh yeah, and how do you change your avatar? I can't seem to find the user control panel....

How dare you be so good so young and after so few years painting. Should certainly be proud of your skills. :brushwave:

The areas look cleanly defined, bold against each other. The flesh and red tones look lush and warm.

Should finish some of those for more exhaustive feedback.

I'd have a look at the threads hereabout on photography. The pics could be better.

Probably a good idea to scroll through the articles section. Bound to be things in there that'll excite you and grow, new techniques, colour combinations and all that. Keep on going and you may have to start thinking about where to display the painting trophies. :star:

The little bits that you an see here look good. The white areas on the first one look a bit too white- need some shading to break it up a bit. The color tint on the photos don't help your shots I'm afraid. Paint them up to where you think they're finished and then ask again, I'm sure people will be able to tell you what else needs fixin'. ;)

Decent work there, you seem to have brush control well managed so the techniques of more advance painting should come a bit easier.

Thanks everyone!

@ Wyrmypops--I should link you to a guy on Dakka Dakka...get's consistent 7.5s or better here and he's younger than me :) I'll have to browse some more articles.

@CrookedEye--first thing after I finish my latest commission, I'm buying a new camera...this one was originally intended for picturizing (I like making up words) scenery, so it's not working the greatest. I'll work on the whites, maybe some blacklining of sorts is in order.

@ Dragonsreach--I genuinely appreciate the honest assessment of my abilities. Hopefully someday I'll be up there with people like Tidoco and Olofer, but for now--well, I can only hope to get there!

Hehe..... :p

Pretty much what DR said.
I agree with the photography thing, good pics are a must to do your work justice.
Only other thing is, I noticed the paint looking a bit blocky on your chaplains helmet/parchment. The cloak looked nice and smooth though. I dunno if this is delibirate, or a halfway stage?
