Mysterious unrequested automatic blacklining

I have a pretty strange problem. I just started a mini and it blacklined itself.
Let me elaborate.

I was painting an area (primed with light grey auto primer) with VGC khaki, highlighting up to VGC bleached bone. After I\'m done, I let the mini stand and dry while I go and play a video game with a friend. A couple of hours after that I take another look at my mini just to find that it has miraculously blacklined itself. The area looks as if an uneven wash of black was applied, with the black being darker in some parts, mainly those that are deeper. I didn\'t know what to make of it and completely repainted the area. This morning I took another look and lo and behold, same thing happened.
Does anyone have an idea why this happens? My theories are a) stupidest crime in the world (breaking and blacklining), b) the wash fairies or c) I am going insane. Most likely it\'s c, but I wonder if anyone has ever experienced something like it.

Before you ask: No pictures, it\'s for the Femme Fatale contest. Also, I would hate to strip it as it took extensive GS work and if I have to assemble another 3 hours I am going to gnaw through the wall right into our neighbours\' house and frighten the kids who by the way deserve it.

The auto primer most likely reacted with the Vallejo paint, the effect being most visible where the base coat was thinnest - where you did not highlight. What brand of primer did you use?

could it posibily be paint reacting with some sort of releasing agent still left on the mini from the mould, which would mainly be left in the crevices, seems really strange to me, but i have heard bad things about the wash fairies so keep an eye out.

i had the same problem except it was a white line that kept appearing.

i don\'t know what caused it and have never had the problem since.

your going to have to strip it mate:(

I have had some wierd chemical reacitons with oil based paints. Seems if you let them dry completely there arent so many problems.

It\'s most definitely \'C\'. ;)

If you were getting greenish colors as a result, I\'d say it might be that the Khaki was separating. This still might be part of the issue, and that it\'s just reacting weird with the primer. I\'ve had similar things happen when I thin stuff out real far or use retarder (I didn\'t think it was supposed to make the paints actually retarded, just dry slower), but never \"automatic blacklining\".

Let us know if you ever figure out what\'s going on (and take your meds! ;))

Possibly Cheryll.

I stripped her. The mini, not Cheryll. I took some more time to assemble her again. I cursed, loudly. Then I helped my father to get some kitchen shelfs onto the wall. Those shelfs decided to slip from our hands and onto mine, hurting my wrist in the process. Then we drilled into the power lines, shorting out all the power in the house including the fridge and freezer and destroying the oven. Then I got a call that my aunt is in the hospital, possibly suffering from cancer. Yet a little later my mother decides to throw out our old papers and throws out several of my metal CDs too which she did neither feel nor see under the goddamn paper, the very place she herself has put them.
When, despite all this CRAP, I decide to paint the now once again assembled miniature again, I get to mixing up the brush on primer I now decided to use I get constant calls for two hours straight, ruining any time I had to paint.
I visit my aunt and she can\'t even talk well. She feels so weak that she can\'t stand up and it\'s not yet clear what she\'s afflicted with.
When I get home and try to paint again, I get the priming done and once again do the khaki thing when my mother calls for me to get drinks from our shed. When I come back, I am delighted to see how much fun our goddamn neighbours\' son has with my newly started mini completely tearing it asunder.
I decided to just ignore everything and play a video game. Surprise surprise, I CAN\'T because once I get online I get bugged constantly by people who think Guild Wars is some kind of chatting service and thereby really makes playing impossible. You know who you are - shut your goddamn piehole for a split second if possible, O-fucking-K? (Now to get them to read the thread...)

Seriously, why does EVERYTHING I do end up in a total shitfest? FUCK EVERYTHING! I know exactly why Hitler invaded Poland! I have a good mind to invade Luxembourg and start a regime of terror there. You know the Joker\'s theory? All it takes to turn a man criminally insane is one bad day? Theory proven. And to round off my wheel of profanity: EVERYTHING SUCKS.

Rant off.

Now, on an unrelated note (the topic), the primer actually was the problem. The brush on worked very well, but not the spray one; I also tried it out on a scrap piece of paper and it\'s true: After applying some watered down khaki, it turned darker in places. Bleached Bone did not. Bleached Bone over khaki over the primer turned darker, but not dark/black.
The primer was \"Monex Haftgrund grau\" from Kodi by the way.

Mosch, those were two pretty impressive feats -- your detective work on the blacklining mystery and your rant! Whew, remind me never to run afoul of you.

Think about invading Denmark, it\'s pretty laid back here.lolBTW, that primer you used, other than the blacklining problem, is it something you can recommend?

OK. Eff it. The arm has broken off senteen times now (I counted). I don\'t want to have anything to do with this stupid effing mini anymore. Dammit.

And the primer is very good, save for the issue already mentioned. It goes on smooth and is very cheap.

By the way, it seems my aunt has some other kind of lung disease. She\'s a bit better already.

Good to hear it\'s better with your aunt.

About your bad day: actually I\'d say that Murphy has something for you, since his laws seem all to apply to you-try some psicotropic substances like THC or alchool-they tend to make you less susceptible to outer provocations of bad luck and Murphy\'s laws and more calm (well it actually depends on how the individual reacts to them, I get hyperactive, hylarious and hungry...

About the mini: have you tried pinning that arm that costantly falls down??? If yes, pinn it deeper, it has to hold! Anyway if you have problems with your mini also the other contestors will have some:)
