Hello everyone!

My name is Mike, and I'm a fellow hobbyist from Canada. I've lurked this site for years, and finally worked up the nerve to (finish a mini and...) post. I would appreciate any feedback you may have for me and I look forward to posting my progression on this site!

It's been a long journey on this one, and it's the first miniature I have completed without getting frustrated and stripping it in many years. He's a character I will be using for our 2nd edition Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay campaign, and he is made from a Bruegelburg Digger from Lead Adventures and an Empire Archer's head. He is supposed to be a Grave Warden from Stirland, and I wanted to use an Autumn inspired colour scheme combined with a dark atmosphere (heavily inspired by Northern Star's work on this site). I haven't put anything on the base yet or sealed it, as I would like to get some feedback on him before I finish him off...so please let me know if you have any comments or criticisms!

welcome to the forums! :good:
mini looks good, especially the face (ace!) but i think you could do something more interesting with the lower part, arms/legs/shoes/shovel/base blend together, for example grey trousers instead of brown would break it up a bit.

also, how many fingers on the right hand, 4? :D

Thanks guys!

I totally agree on the grey. I was losing steam towards the end and opted for an easy out with the mud effects, but I think grey would look better. Any suggestions on how to paint over a section without it getting too thick?

Also I've been having a strange thing happen when I'm using washes that I would like to run by you. Occasionally when I use them, as it dries these tiny white spots that look like dust begin to appear. When dry they are fairly visible, but if I wet them they go away but return when drying. Have you guys ever had this happen? Seems to only happen if I put too much of a wash in one area too quickly, but I have had it happen on its own as well. I'm using the GW washes.

EDIT: Oh yes, and I just realized there is only 4 fingers on the right hand...lol!

Update

I finally finished the miniature entirely. I didn't have the drive to change the pants colour, so I changed the ground instead. Not sure how I feel about the moss spilling over on the base edges but it's covering up a glue mishap so I did not have a choice. Took a 360 picture but will submit one with less angles for voting.

Thank you guys again for all your help!

I paint my thumb.
Hehe, nice workaround! The visual impact is already a lot more interesting.
I wish the whole piece was at the level of the face, it's like the quality of the job degrades from top to bottom. With the face being ace (With a nice particular style too.) and the boots looking like a blob of unthinned paint. Shows you got skills, just don't rush things!

Thanks man!

I totally get what you are saying about the boots. I was trying to do a muddy effect with the bottoms being still wet, but didn't seem to be successful. I will definitely spend more time on it for the next one.
