Howdo all

Just started painting this little gem of a model from Andrea Miniatures as my Historical entry for Salute this year. first impressions of the model when i opened the box was wow, although Andrea are fairly pricey think they are worth every penny, hardly a mouldline and beautifully sculpted. I am going to enjoy painting this lad........

Work so far, his face is only thing I have worked on and is still not finished yet

Pretty good start the face looks amazing already. A bit healthy for a pirate though if im honest.

The sum of this evenings work

close up on the knuckle tattoos "HOLD FAST"

I have repainted the HOLD FAST on his knuckles and it is now on the fingers just below the knuckle sadly means it is in such a place that i cant photograph it as I need more hands LOL but rest assured it now looks better AND more historically accurate

I have also done all the tattoos, compass on his right bicep (so he can always find his way home), crossed cannons on his left shoulder (to show naval service as a gunner) and a Chinese dragon on his back (to show he has travelled to china)

I have also started to weather his skin up a bit, stubble has gone on and I have started to darken his skin with glazes so he looks like he should be in the Carribbean.

Time to pass out!

I am considering a similar pattern to this on the bandana more neat of course

Hmm not sure about the colour choice for the bandana, but it might change with pattern and other stuff. For the moment I think it is to light and colourful and distracts attention from the face. (not that I ever would be albe to paint as good as you do, the tattos are just fantastic.)

yeah to be honest i am with you on that i think i should have stayed with it black or navy blue, wont take long to alter

right little work done today, was out half the day so not as much work done as I would like, having a dinner break before I try and finish off the socks and trousers

Right done a little more, done his sword and socks and finished off his trousers ready for weathering, you will notice the patch is made of a segment of French flag bearing the Fleur de Lis to suggest past prizes maybe, also gave me chance to do a little random freehand.

Looking very nice. I like the patchwork freehand. Only criticism at this time is the socks and freehand do stand out a lot. Not sure that badass sea dogs laundry is that good have you any plans to weather/dull them a little? still a cracking paint job so far!
