Nakota Centaur

This is a Crunch Waffle Nakota Centaur. Dan more or less challenged me to paint it blue and in a convincing manner. That was a challenge I just had to take! So, here\'s the first post!

Well...
At the moment it looks like it\'s had it\'s hair trimmed to the skin and it\'s developing hypothermia lol

An interesting idea... Not quite sure how you\'re gonna get it to work... :p

Best of luck :D

Here\'s the update. I\'ve just finished the basecoats and most of the lining. I\'m hoping to get a little more done tonight.

Here are the first round of highlights. I will be adding glazes to the body to make the highlights look more natural. I will also touch up the highlights to try and make the blue a little bit lighter overall.

I really like how this is going. Have you got a design picked out for the shield? It looks like a sioux theme going on with this mini. I have some suggestions. Even though it\'s more Pacific American than plains style this pic would look great on a round shield:

This one is more Plains/Sioux style (I got it from a Sioux symbols website):

The blue gives this piece a very mystical/etheral quality that works really well. Are you planning to add any blue to the hair on the human part?

Dan, anyone who knows me can tell you that I can pull of the really bright colors and make them look good. This just happened to be a little more of a challenge. Here are the updates with the first 2 layers of midtone glaze. Hopefully more will be done later.

As for the shield I\'m still deciding. I was thinking of doing a design to tie her into Colletta the other centaur I painted in the crunch waffle line.

Freak, it really is starting to look good. I\'m surprising myself with this one. I\'m learning how to paint horses which is more difficult than one would think. Such broad areas to try to highlight well.

Here\'s the next step . . . I added the highlight from the MSP Teal Triad from Reaper, Surf Aqua to the highlighted areas. I will be adding some titanium white to it next before commencing with more glazes.

aye, horses are a right pain. i still can do them. i do tend to pain sci-fi so it\'s not generally a problem! although i do have a centaur at home that i want to paint now...

More progress has been made. I\'m now at the stage of touching up basecoats on the rest of the mini as well as starting to highlight and glaze the hair. I\'m waiting for the highlights to dry enough before I add a glaze.
