Naming And Labeling Your Mini?

Hello everyone I would like to pick the Brains of this fine group of Painters on the subject of naming and creating Labels for your Minis. Your thoughts into it, how to, links to tutorials, tips and tricks and what not? Anything in the subject you would like to talk about.

Thank you.

Depends,.. if it's a premade piece by some manufacturer, and you're asking what to label it for the gallery,.. I'd say just label it "space marine" or "demon prince",.. or whatever else it may happen to be. If, however, this is an original piece that's been handcrafted by you,.. then feel free to label it as you see fit. Though, I'd try to keep the label in line with the piece,.. after all,.. panting a GW tank, and labeling it as "garden hose" might get a bit confusing. Unless I'm misunderstanding what it is that you're after????

Lol, I'm looking for info on how to create those nice labels you see some times on show pieces in painting competitions and what not, are they just ordered from certain websites or hand made? And if hand made then some info on making them would be awesome. I've looked around on the web but haven't found to much about it.

The best labels run either one of several ways:-
Either handcrafted to match the style of the mini, think 'antiqued paper' for a treasure map background for a pirate
or sculpted out of green stuff/milliput/sculpting material of choice. Then painted & scripted.
or professionally made to your specifications by someone like..Name-it-plates. Who give superb service at damn reasonable rates.
