Naming Mini\'s

Is it just me but are there becoming more and more users/posters that cannot be bothered to give a name to the mini they are posting?
It is getting to the stage now where this is starting to get throughto me and very soon I will stop even bothering to look at those mini\'s that are labeled \"Another Mini\" which would be a shame as some of them can be quite good work.
So come on people if you can take the time to paint the damn thing then photograph it and post it on CMON please take the time to name it as well taht well you might get a few more votes.

I\'ve noticed a lot of this myself. Some folks don\'t even bother to list the correct manufacturer or subject! Laziness I guess.

You\'d think though that they\'d find the time to just type in the model\'s name and the like. MTV generation perhaps? No attention span! Oh well, what can you do?

Yes, it is truly annoying, since when you\'re searching for a marine or somesuch you remember seeing, but it doesn\'t have a name. To me this is even worse than leaving no comments on your own work!

MTV\'s attention span\'s problem sits squarely on the shoulders of that harlot Courtney Love! Everybody knows it!! :p

maybe someone could come up with a some-or-what standard naming convention

for example:
Warhammer 40K Tau Fire Warriors

so something like
<game> <race> <unit>

just an id...

this also makes searching easier, becaus i have experienced that you sometimes miss a lot of minis when you do a search, just because the name name wasn\'t entered correctly :(

Maybe if people get really lazy, they can do like the old surrealist painters and pick random words from the dictionary.. \"Persistance of Memory\", for example.... :p

Naming Convention????

I can understand a set naming convention if you are a wargame player. However, me being an RPG kind of guy will tend to name my minis after characters or the \"generic\" name given on the package like \"Tristan Loremistress\", or \"Ralf Yaknchuk\". If you wanna put some set naming convention on, that is fine. It would be something like: \"Another Ork Boss\" or \"Another Black Templar\" ;)

Just pulling your leg. I get peeved with no names too, as well as no comments by the artist. Oh well. You don\'t always get what you want...

I usually just put down whatever comes to mind, but it is kinda weird how people can spend hours and hours lavishing their minis with paint and can\'t name them properly or post comments. Truly bizarre... ???

I don\'t have a problem with a naming convention even if it is the name of the mini on the blister or the name of a D & D character it is better than another mini which to me is just pure laziness on the painters part.

Chrispy, your example of surrealism is weak. Dali\'s painting indeed fits that title and not a random titling occurance. A truly surreal title for a mini would be more like \'Transrotonic Bioloid Plookinator\'.:]

I think Surrealism isn\'t what he had in mind. I believe the art movement of Dadaism (google that term) is what he had in mind.
Or a title to a Led Zeplin song ;)

Well, Dali was stuck up anyways when he pronounced \"I am Surrealism\".... Either that or he was insane... or both.. :p
