Tell that marine to go and shave, he is a disgrace to the unit!
Nice job on both the RG minis!

Thanks for the comments! I'll finish up the Raven Guard unit in a bit but now I'm working on this Dark Angels Primaris Chaplain. Did a few basic conversions with some other DA pieces to spruce him up a bit. First is the robe, normally for DA I'd paint it dark green but the robe on the Primaris Chaplain model is obviously leather based on the way it drapes. Thought I'd try painting it as a roughed up light green leather instead of a basic brown or black. I had a pretty tough time at first, I used an old green Citadel Foundation paint (label came off so I'm not sure which color) as the base layer and it was super streaky. Put 5 or 6 coats on before it was solid. First highlight was with Citadel Straken Green which was also super streaky/chunky. I think I managed to hide most of the imperfections with all the weathering.

Really nice work on the surcoat or robes or what ever they are. Not sure if you are trying to go for a camo look, but that is kind of what it seems to be.

Thank you! Its just supposed to be dirty/weathered/scratched green leather, but the colors definitely give it a bit of a camo look.

nice work on the robes so far. the scratches are a nice touch. I think it general it needs as little more contrast. maybe take the shadow a bit darker.

Just wanted to let you all know that I'm still working on stuff! Took a brief break from the chaplain to paint up an Eldar Kill Team for eBay. Been building them for the past couple weeks. Havent had a ton of time to work recently as our apartment has been in a state of flux, my girlfriend and I's roommate just moved out, but it means I get a whole room to myself now as an office/work space. (We used to share it but now my girlfriend is moving her office into our roommates old room)

Anyways, I'll post some pictures of the Eldar when theres more to see, just started painting them yesterday!

Here is the heavy weapons platform for the Kill Team! The color scheme is for Alaitoc Craftworld based on the scheme used by John Shaffer in WD 319 (Aug 2006.) I'm painting this Kill Team up to be played with, so its not to as high a standard as I'd usually try to paint. Still happy with it though! Only thing I'm dissatisfied with is the bone colors, any time I try to paint bone colors they come out streaky blotchy and thick. I've only been using Vallejo colors for bone, so I ordered some Citadel bone colors to see what kind of difference they make. Anyways, I have 5 Guardian Defenders and 5 Dire Avengers to paint up now, I'll be batch painting them all and probably posting them when theyre finished. Oh, and I do know how to do other kinds of bases I just thought the rusty desert red would compliment the blue armor well!

This looks cool! Love the plasma glow and the way you stippled the blue.
I don't like painting any kind of white either, straight out of the bottle it is too thick, and thinned down it is always too chalky.
Need to do more layers with the think chalky stuff I guess :)

Well.. A lot has happened since my last post. Hope you're all doing well. We've been lucky in that both my girlfriend and I have been able to pretty easily transition to working from home full time, although having my minis right next to me while I work is pretty distracting...

Anyways, slow progress on this Eldar kill team. Just finished these Guardians last night:

Pretty, happy with how they turned out, I've always loved this color scheme and I think it looks really good with the red desert bases. These were old recycled models that had a lot of flaws (old thick paint, glue spots, etc) so I never had the intention of painting them to my highest standard, just a higher end table top quality. My intention is to sell the Kill Team eventually, assuming people still want to spend their money on Warhammer after all this...

I also have 5 Dire Avengers to go with them. I was painting them all together at first, but paused on the Dire Avengers to reassess the color scheme. I realized that as a standard they have white helmets and black guns, obviously I can do whatever I want but I'm thinking it might look best to stick to that scheme to set them apart at least a bit from the Guardians. What do you guys think?

Not sure if I'll work on the Dire Avengers next, might go back to that DA Chaplain. Or I might take a mini break and just do some regular painting. We'll see.

Working on this Chaplain again, trying to pull all these colors together. I like how its turning out! I wanted to make the hood a different shade of green from the robes, (leather vs fabric) but I'm wondering if the difference might be too stark.

I also built this Deathwatch Kill Team I had lying around, no progress painting yet but I magnetized every single weapon and head so that each marine is completely customizable.

Thank you!

More progress on this chaplain, decided I didn't like the contrasting green hood so I painted it the same color as the robes. Will probably finish him in the next couple days.

Decided to stick him on this display base I made for something else a while ago. If I decide I definitely like it on there I'll add some snow around his feet to really place him in the scene. Not sure whats next, should probably finish up the Eldar.

Love it! the green of the cloak ties together with the mossy base really well. And the snow looks like it has a creamy tint to it, very much like the scrolls on him.
I think it looks fantastic. That is some tight edge highlighting you have there, especially on the gun casing.
