need a camera on a budget

Hi I would like to get some better pics of my minis and was wondering if there was a cheap alternative to the more upmarket rigs? I\'m on a tight budget atm and any advice would be welcome

I think your best bet might be to look for a digicam that\'s slightly older. Lots of cameras from name makers that are superceded by later models come down in price by a significant margin, that\'s one way of getting a quality piece of kit without paying through the nose for it.

But as Spacemunkie said, need to know your idea of \"tight budget\" - this could be $50 (unrealistically low) or $200 (probably doable, from an online vendor).

So open to problems though... without a warranty you\'re screwed if you buy it and it stops working in a couple of weeks.

New is new, even if it\'s something that wasn\'t made recently.

I don\'t believe my pictures are too shabby, and they\'re all just taken with an El Cheapo camera. If you hit my gallery, the pictures from 07 were taken with a mere 1.5 MP camera, and I believe the later ones are 4 or 5 MP. But doesn\'t matter, they were both taken with a camera just north of $100. Make sure you get one with a macro feature and you should be well enough off, IMO.

I\'d consider getting any of the older Canon Digital Rebel series. They are really damn solid for an entry level SLR, and well worth the price. A used/old one would be even cheaper and still plenty good.

Definitely not in the $100 ballpark, but tons of value still.

I also found a site the other day while looking for a camera. Cameragiant.com I think. The prices are really nice. I ended up buying a $250 Canon digital for $150 brand new. Customer service was kinda lame, but maybe you can find something in your range there.
