Well, I guess you could do worse than buy the full version of Zonealarm. I\'m still using the free version, but if I thought about it (and was more concerned with online security), it\'s what I\'d do. As far as I know, ZA have a decent enough rep. They\'ve been going for a while now, that\'s for sure.

Any security software is better than none.
Zonealarm is about as good as any other, it just depends on; How your budget is, How strong you want your security , and How good your it skills are.

There are so many options available all you need do is google for Security Software and get baffled. Failing that talk to a \"Non-Geek\" It Technician (if there is such a thing) about what they use.

But in the end it\'s down to what you feel comfortable with.

here:

Mick gave you a good free anti virus but Id suggest down loading these two programs and run them weekly

Spyware Blaster. Download and enable all protection

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Ad-Aware. download and run weekly.
http://www.lavasoft.com/

Most of all, discontinue use of Internet Explorer and Only use Fire Fox as a browser.

Thanks for that Dragon Forge Design, when you say run them weekly, does that mean do a scan for virus\' and spyware? or do you mean something else?

And all so, do I still run ZoneAlarm or get rid of it when I have downloaded lavasoft?

.....stu.....

p.s If it is worth paying for security software what would you suggest in the rang of £0 - £50?

you can only have one anti virus running, so you need to uninstall the old one before installing the new
you can upgrade from the free version of Avast, it gives you a few more extras but I\'ve not needed anything more than the free one

it\'s a good idea to unplug from the internet when you do the change over, just to be on the safe side. Once you\'ve installed the new Avast do an upgrade and then a full AV check
