(As it happens, though, I'm usually the jar-opener of the household...)

Guess im happy to have an understandable wife (who also have a hobby of her own)

This is how it works for me too... 23 yrs together and counting. My wife has a lot of her own hobby interests and we manage our hobby / fun time together. I do make sure that she knows that she is more important then my hobby. I had a couple of close GFs early in life that were not so understanding about my interests... I have to honestly say that in hindsight I'm very glad these relationships did not work out. Best of luck finding balance. There's a lot of give and take in long term relationships.
