Need advice on painting a land raider

I\'m trying to paint my land raider white and so far I\'m not to happy with how the paint is looking. I primed it white and that part looks like a nice flat white which i want, but when I paint over it to get it brighter I\'m finding a lot of brush strokes in my paint. I\'m using vallejo game color skull white and a really small brush. The paint is mixed 1:1 with a 1:20 mix of flow improver. Do I need to just keep adding more layers? Do I need a bigger brush? Do I need a different ratio of paint to water mix? For shading the white portions I mixed up some white with gw black ink and water and it makes a nice gray shade thats coming out nice, but hopefully someone can give me some hints on how to make the main body of the tank nice and smooth that doesn\'t involve an airbrush. Also the tanks not entirely white, I\'m doing some areas like the imperial eagles and parts of the top blood red, kind of like a white scars scheme but I\'m actually making my own chapter based on the history of the knights templar. Anyways thanks in advance for any help.

For very large areas nothing beats spraying. Airbrush or a can. Try a good paint store, or hardware store. Rustoleum works pretty well.
