I know i\'m asking a lot of questions about painting different colours, but i\'ve never done purple blending before and i wonder if it\'s more tricky to master than other colours. Actually, it\'s my freind who\'s wondering since he\'s starting a slaanesh warband with mortals and he wants them blended between liche purple and white. ???

all colors blend the same. You don\'t change the blending technique when you change color. All you have to do is choose the right colors to blend, and for that you need to read some color theory. But the technical part will always be the same.

I used a bit of dark purple on the back of this one:

Used Reaper\'s Master Series paints. Plus added a bit of dark purple ink to the darker color to take it even darker.

try liche purple as a basecoat and highlight either with white or tentacle pink (depends on the effect you want)

Using white for highlighting purple can be a bad idea depending somewhat on the kind of purple in question. A warm, rich purple will look a lot better if highlighted with a light skin tone.

when i blend with purple (which by the way is my favorite color to paint with) i use ivory...if i want it \"dirty\" i use bone white.

but i always start with hexed lichen and then wash with a color. usually black, but a light red wash looks smashing.

but...over all, i use ivory

[edit] of course i did have to post right after ritual...and if you hadnt noticed, hes alot better than me...so follow his advice...not mine . lollol [/edit]

What happens when you add white depends on the pigment(s) in the paint, there are a couple of oranges which turn pinker the more white you add which is quite odd to see.

If you get this in future and it\'s not what you want just add in a little of a bluer purple or a tiny amount of blue, this will pull the mixture back toward violet.

Thanks for your answers guys, my friend is very grateful!

And so am I. This topic made me want to try purple myself lol I\'ve never tried painting it before, but if it\'s like yellow, i\'m going to throw up... :|~

One Warning! If you use GW purples (or blues) and blend up to GW white; DO NOT use dull-cote at the end. The purple will blend through your perfect highlights and make you weep. I don\'t know about other brands of paint.
