Need help from experienced Airbrushers

Hi all.

So I want to take my airbrushing to the next level since Im a decent airbrusher at the moment.

What I have in mind is painting some Dryads and Treemen in a blue shining colour, but I'm stuck in how to proceed.
I'm thinking maybe something like basecoting the miniatures in a dark colour, maybe black, then airbrushing over white, leaving a dark colour in the creavesses and then, go mad with candy colours like blue, green and purple, tough I have no idea if this is the best way to proceed or if it even works. I have never tried candy colours.
The goal however is to get the miniatures almost luminescent.

Does anyone have some tips on how to achieve this project?

These are some pictures that I base the concept and colours on

I think this is fine way to do it. The candy colors or inks are super fun and go on nice and translucent as long as you don't let them pool up. Maybe primer up a bunch of crap minis or even twigs from the yard first and do some test runs?

Are you located in Northern California? There is workshop in January

Thanks. The idea of painting twigs and maybe bark is actually a very good idea that I need to try out.
Do you have any recommendations of some good paints? Like manufacturer or some nice looking candies even?

I'm actually located in Sweden so there will be quite a long trip to January, so I guess I have to order from the internet instead :).

What do you paint with now? Try that first. Then I think the Vallejo Model Air is nice. I like Reaper paints but mostly that is what they have at my local hobby store. GW has great paint but is really expensive and some times the quality is hit and miss. Golden Liquetex and FW all make quality acrylic inks and paints that you can run through your AB

You have some good company here from Sweden.

^^Is one of my favorite painters and he is in Sweden. Shoot him a Private Message and maybe he recommend a good store or event for you :0)

At the moment I paint with Vallejo model Air.

Those Badger Ghost tints seems to be just the thing I'm looking for. Thanks

Look at Createx Auto-Air line as well. They have metallics, candies and chameleons paints that may be what you are looking for.

Yeah I have heard of them and they seem to be a very good line of paints. However I have no idea if they lend themself well for small miniature painting. Have you tried them?

I've shot some helmates and a few other things with them. Thin them and they work fine. Some of the metalics may not work as the grain may be a bit large, but most of them are very fine and shoot through my Iwata fine.
You'll see that they have a hardner and catalyst also available. I'd skip that step if you're going to clear coat them anyway.

The chameleons are pretty cool. I did my daughter's bike with a red to blue chameleon. No matter how you looked at it, each of the frame parts had a blue line in the middle with a red outside.
