Need Help with my Dark Angels

Hi There
Well I was sitting there trying to paint my Dark Angel minis and having a hard to with it when I decided that I need some help. I have only been in this hobby for a few months now so please keep in mind Im still learning. If anyone could please please tell me a step by step way to paint my Dark Angels Space Marines to make them look cool and also what GW paints I need to use for each step I would be forever grateful.

I think GW has a guide. The painting really all depends on what you want/can paint. In order to get that dark look that they have you have to learn to paint with a light source and that could take years to finialy understand (well it did for me) .

Try GW\'s guide to start and if that doesn\'t work then just ask.

Ya GW\'s guide is a bit unsificiant but if you\'re only painting gaming level figures it\'s not a bad guide.

haven\'t DONE many DA\'s but I have Azrael waiting to be done...

I wud GUESS - DA players correct me if Im wrong...

For the nomal, regular marines darlk green armour, undercoat black, base coat DA green, and highlight DA green/Gobbo green ... ?

For robes, any browns or blues faded and highlighted with white (Have to do this with a few more layers/ thinner paint than the armour)

And for the bone coloured 1st compnay, snakebite undercoat, bleached bone base coat, white highlights

As for deathwing - black is quite hard to do - leave them till last and you\'ve got a bit of practic - eome articles on painting black too

I actualy prefer the gold breast decoration versus the bone. The bone looks good when done well but the gold really adds an other level to it.

Goblin into DA gives a fairly chalky look. I prefer using camo green and snot green final highlights with a hint of rotting flesh..

Keep the highlights small and concentrate on the edges..

Also as the basecoat mix in a little black with the basecoat. should do the trick..

AH haaaaa. I actually use black and DA gren as base then add DA green to normal colour . After that I add Catachan green and camo green
Still comes out nice and dark but with really great highlights!

Damn i was always basecoating goblin green, highlighting goblin green/yellow, then doing the edges with yellow. No wonder everybody always laughed at me.

I appreciate the feedback you guys are leaving him on this. It helps out with what I am doing with him...

I volunteered myself to give him a tutorial on how I do mine. We are highlighting helmets right now.....lol

I will have him post a WIP thread on the site so you guys can give him feedback, maybe reinforce some of the ones I am giving him. Thanks! :moon:

I do mine with bleached bone (now I use bone white from VGC) and they come out really nice too. I tested doing it with other greens and sometimes comes out too neon in my opinion...
