Heya,

I\'m going to be playing my first WFB game next Saturday and need some help with an army list. We are using the latest rules and I\'ve only got the old (5th ed?) models. Its a siege game with lots of different armies. I\'m with the good guys inside the fortress.

We are not having lords.

These are the models I have got:

18 Skink horned one riders (in 3 colour groups - the models are Tichihuichi\'s raiders, 3 inxi huinsi and various other standard ones so I could use one or more as champion and/or standard bearer)

57 skink archers (in 9 different colour groups) Including the Tenehuini model (prophet of sotek) with the snake standard, 3 other totem bearer models, 3 champions, 2 musicians.

36 saurus with hand weapons (including 1 champion model- could be used as an old blood, 2 totem bearers and a musician.

16 saurus with spears (including 1 totem bearer and 1 musician)

21 temple guard including 1 with totem and 3 with hand weapons- the rest have the halberds.

2 salamanders (the ones that look like dimetrodons) and their 10 skink handlers.

3 Kroxigors

1 terradon

1 swarm

1 skink shaman who could double as a priest and a bloodbowl skink who might also double as a priest

2 chameleon skinks

1 stegadon

Any help would be great!

Regards

Not sure siege is such a great idea for your first WFB game, as it\'s a bit more fiddly than normal, but if that\'s what you\'re doing, that\'s what you\'re doing.
Have you got the new Lizardmen book? If you haven\'t, you\'re going to need it.
I don\'t play lizardmen, but I have an opponent that does, so I know a little about them
First of all: Slann, you don\'t seem to have one in your collection. I\'m not surte on this, but I think they are compulsory now in games over a certain points value. The new model is fantastic too, so hopefully I can convince you to get one. They can be tooled up to be the best spellcasters in the whole game.
Saurus are very good basic troops, they have two attacks on their profile, one of the very few core troops that do (although they only get one if attacking from the second rank with spears). They should be very effective at holding the castle wall. Perhaps split the ones with hand weapons into 2 units. Don\'t bother with the spear armed ones as they cannot rank up on the wall, and so get no advantage.
Kroxigor are scary, and great value for points, they will be too big to fit on standard castle walls (you have to laeve space for your opponents troops), but will be ace as guards behind the gate, ready to pounce on anything that breaks through.
Skink archers, poisened arrows are useful for taking down big gribblys like ogres, trolls, giants etc, but their short range means you\'ll have to wait for the enemy to get very close before you open fire.
The horned one riders won\'t be helpful as I think they have been removed from the army list (saurus cold one riders have been added instead)
1 terradon, 2 chameleon skinks, not enough of either to make units so they\'re out the window (not literally ;))
The stegadon, well, you could start it outside the walls to cause your opponents some havoc, it is a tough beastie, it won\'t do much behind the walls
Temple guard will form a great bodyguard for your Slann if you decide to get one. Otherwise you can\'t take them (you can only have 1 unit of temple guard for each slann in the army)
Hope this helps, and good luck :)

Thanks for the reply King M. I went down to my local GW for some help in the end. Unfortunately, even though I have a slann (well, 2 but ones riding a T-rex so hardly game legal), we are not having lords so I can\'t take him in this game, which means temple guard are out too. The skinks with bows will have to pretend they have javelins or blowpipes instead as the new army list doesn\'t allow skinks with bows, except in the southlands. The guy at GW suggested I take 2 units of skinks (12 in each). The saurus with spears (16 of them) . The Krox (3) and Salamanders (2) and a swarm. The leader will be a skink priest and there are also a few champinons, etc.

Sounds good

Give the kroxigor great wepons (do they have these as standard?) They will then be str 7:flip:. The diasadvantage of striking last won\'t bother them much as they have low initiative, meaning they will be usually be striking last anyway.

don\'t know if its too late & good...

based on some playing experience with the lizardmen army...here\'s certain thingies that work to my favor:

(1) one skink priest with scout and blood statuette of spite...use it on their character and hopefully, watch him die!
(2) large saurus block with spawning of chotec...break the enemy and chase them down!
(3) 2 blocks of kroxigors (4 each) and hack away! it\'ll confuse their shooting and at least one block can get through to deal massive damage!
(4) jungle swarm with their poison and 5 wounds...with their base size, only 2 enemies can fight them at a time...being unbreakable...halt their major unit and pin them down..it\'ll take at least 2-3 turns to get through
(5) saurus cavalry is useless
(6) terradons employed to harass and destroy war machines
(7) skinks and more skinks...break them down into units of 10 and position them in various areas of the battle...with poison and low cost, you can deal enough damage to turn the tide!
(8) if possible, a unit of salmanders can add ballistics to your side and they\'re not that expensive
