Need SENMM help

OK, maybe you still remember Randall Devonshire. I painted him to the best of my abilities, getting help from all you guys and after a single game my friend who handled very few minis before chipped it a little. No problem there, I stripped Randall and repainted him again - well, basically I am in the process of painting. And as Randall is my prime test subject for anything, he is also the first one to receive SENMM. He is supposed to wield two chrome swords now; here is one as an example:

I know I have done something wrong. It just feels and looks.... well, not as if it would reflect the surrounding area. Can anyone give me pointers what to change?

Yeah, it doesn\'t look right somehow..
Take a look at Nelson\'s new mini:

Here you see that a more azure blue instead of the ice blue you\'re using works much better. And that a the horizon.. the ground goes black and on top of that is a thin white line for the sky and it slowly blends up to the blue from the white line.
So just try to mix a better blue.. and do some reverse highlighting.

I find that more subtle colours work best. Try mixing some grey with both the blue and the brown - SENMM doesn\'t always have to be your classic sky blue/brown - the metal will reflect its surroundings.

Chrome REALLY reflects light, so you should put highlights along ALL of the edges, obviously being brighter at the uppermost edge (probably white).

I basically worked from the colours you have, and blended shades into them to soften them up. It takes a lot of time but is quite satisfying! Hope this helps....

OK, tried it again...

That\'s what I accomplished so far trying to take your tipps into account. My first tries at NMM and SENMM, and it seems SENMM is easier than NMM... :( Please ignore the left leg (his one...) which I am still working on blending. I went up to white on the edges and glazed with a very, VERY translucent grey glaze. As I have already said, NMM feels a lot harder than SENMM, but I would love help on both ;)
By the way, I WOLD my girlfriend the sky looks more azure. I was right once more :p nfortunately, I do not have a more azure colour and so I just kept using \"deep sky blue\".
And I know the picture is not the best, I couldn\'t get my usual setup out at 1 AM ;)

I still think swords parralel to the horizon should never reflect it, but that\'s my opinion.. The shin gaurds need some defining by making the edges more of a \"U\" shape, otherwise it looks flatter than it really is.. Hope this helps!! :p

Chrispy\'s right - the reflection on the sword in his left hand should run from hilt to tip of the blade, not across, due to the shape of the blade.
