Need some comments !!!

Greeting and salutations,
I need some advice on this mini.. If you could spare a few miniutes to look and reply i would be grateful..

I need to know what i can do painting wise to improve the look of this model.. The face is a bit off, i was trying for a arrogant look.. The silver is a bit thick on his arm unfortuantly.. Any help is appreicated...Ta !!!

I think that you\'ve answered your own question, in that you admit that your silver paintwork is a bit thick.
Your pictures are displaying very large, and this helps to show up the areas that you could do with working on.

Firstly I would suggest that you consider the number of layers of paint that you use. In order to get a good skin tone you need to start with very thin paint. Although this will mean that your will need several coats to get an even coverage do not be discouraged by this.
One way around improving the skintone is to do an undercoat of thin Bestial Brown over your primer, this helps to set a tonal basis for the skin.
Then you can work up through Dwarf flesh, Tanned flesh, Elf Flesh, reducing the size of the highlights each time.

As for the Silver, again reduce the paint by thinning it with clean water, and try to keep your brushstrokes in the same direction. This helps to prevent the build up of the metalic granules in the paint forming on the model.

If you have been following the GW/Citadel painting guides, they are a good start but one of the best ways of improving the appearance of any figure is to extend the range of shadow to highlights. (Instead of 3 tones of paint mix intermediate stages so that you can end up with 7-8 tones. ie Scab Red, then Scab red with a little Red Gore, then More Red Gore, eventually adding Blood red to the mix, until you end up with Pure Blood Red).

i like it. the face looks kinda funny, but being a close up shot i am sure it shows more than it should at a normal viewing distance.

heres what i managed so far tryin Mikes ideas...It is hard to see in the pics because i am still rather crap at photographin my minis ...What do you think any better?? He is not finished more of a WIP...

Wow! Is that an old Squat, that takes me back!!! I would put another lighter highlight on the edges of the red to really bring it out.

One word of advice, spend a bit more time working out the focus! Because you will improve your scores no-end with proper focus.

Looks alright though :D

wbf: the Squat is looking alright, just as Andy suggested that an extra highlight on the edge would give the figure and added impact.
If you go to the Articles section there are quitre a few helpful Photographic articles. I would recommend the Single Light source one by Honza. It is a great starting point.
Once you\'ve got the picture showing what you want, you\'ll need to reduce the image dimentions to around 400-450 pixcels to allow the whole thing to show on the screen.

@ DR, you did give some very sound advice. :D

As for the squats what Andy said is a good idea. I would also do something more with the gun and the leather on the axe haft. :D

Okay then..Well i will be working on him some more today and ill post pics once i finish him...I am really pleased so far with him..Thanks for the advice peeps...

Right then heres the finished product except for the base...What do you think ?? Any glaring crap spots ?? I didnt realize the mold line was that bad when i started painting him.. Heres the pics !!
