Need WH40K advice

Hi all,

I bought the new Terminator Librarian recently and have been thinking about using him in a duel piece. My idea is to have him using some form of psychic attack on a tyranid broodlord. Now, I don\'t actually play WH40K so I\'m not sure if this is a likely/possible scenario within the game. It\'s not going to be for GD or anything like that - just for fun - but I\'d still like it to be accurate to the gameworld.

Any thoughts?

Yeah it\'s both likely and possible that a Librarian in Terminator armour would face off against a brood lord.. especially if he were to be an ultramarine.. they don\'t like their Xenos!

Yes that is possible. Most people do some form of lightning bolts coming from his hand.

Please say you aren\'t going to paint it in ultramarine colours?

You could have him holding one hand to his head and the head of the broodlord exploding!

Or, he could have his weapon touching the ground and a black mark moving along the ground from the weapon and creeping up the legs of the broodlord.

Haven\'t really painted a Space Marine since Space Hulk and they were practically dipped in a pot of red and declared \"finished\" lol

The Broodlord mini seemed ideal for the scene as it\'s almost screaming in mental anguish already. As for the Librarian himself, I\'ll go traditional dark blue armour but not sure which chapter (if any specific one) yet, I\'ll do some more research before deciding. Also, I\'m planning on keeping the effect subtle - I believe psychic assaults should be shown more through the mini\'s than extra effects (plus it\'s easier that way )

a kool effect would be to have it appear as though the libs eyes are burning and have fire breaking out on the BL.

you could paint him as ordo xenos.

I was going to keep this one to myself and use it for the next librarian I do up for my dark angels, it comes out of the new codex, I could scan a pic if you want, where they librarian is moving forwards, with his hands and eyes glowing white, and what looks like the start of balls of energy in his hands.

I like the idea of intense eyes on the librarian. Was thinking of black/void-like or maybe silver/reflective... Need to spend some more time looking at the mini to get a feel for what will work though.

Metallic looking eyes! If they are big enough for that to be noticable that would be great.

Personally, if the eys were big enough (Say a forgeworld bust) I go for the old X-files stlye black clouds/liquid, but obviously that would be nigh-on impossible (Not to mention too hard to see) on a 28mm :/

As for actually showing the effect through expression, rather than actual \"SFX\", I would suggest making sure that the posing of the Librarian is facing directly at the Broodlord, and possibly having the broodlord wheeling away, as though flinching back from the attack.

Not sure if \'nids have ear holes, but you could also do some small trickles of dark blood from it\'s eyes/nose etc.

How about having the librarian holding some sort of trinkit/artifact on a chain round his neck. Having his head bowed and other hand held out (as if to say \"o you no\") and some light coming off the trinket/artifact

Some mre great ideas coming out here but I feel I\'m setting myself up for a huge fall. Firstly I\'ve never tackled anything more than a single mini on a base before and never tried special effects, OSL etc. As for converting, well one of my more recent posts had a bit of greenstuff sculpting on and has had mixed reviews. Still, we never improve if we don\'t push ourselves... just don\'t expect to see anything too soon but I promise I\'ll post a proper WiP once I get it started.

Just do some test models untill your confident. Small things like OSL off a plasma gun etc before you now it you\'ll be doin OSL off reflections of diamond rings
