well i\'m doing this guy you know..

this is the guy
and i\'m kinda stuck and could use some advice.
see i need to know if the symbol looks mapped right.
i would also like some idea on how to \"harden\" the boarder of the symbol without making it too bright.

what would i highlight the red with? or should i shade the red?

there were plans to do a prancing horse over the symbol. but it might not happen yet.

any comment or suggestions?

Nice freehand so far - airbrushed? it almost looks it.

Maybe a real dark red boarder - like near black/red or violet/red?

Actually, I wouldn\'t make a dark border as it might reduce contrast between the symbol and the cloth (and I suppose we want the symbol to stick out - nice conversion btw).

The symbol looks mapped about right, although the outside bars (as in \"not the triangle itself\") seem to be curved... is it the picture, the angle, an impression, on purpose ?

Finally, concerning the shading/highlighting, I think you should paint the design darker (like the color you used for the cloak\'s highlights - gives consistency but contrast) and highlight it with your nice bright red. In other words, starting from what you have now, shade it heavily with the lightest color of the cloak. I don\'t think you\'ll need to \"harden\" the border.

Hope that helps.

My 2c...

I would go for shading rather than highlighting and (if I had the skill)put a gold edge to the symbol

I\'d suggest a black border to the symbol to really make it \"pop.\"
Try painting it on paper first to see if you like it.
Mapping looks right.
Colors are off. You have a yellowy red on a bluish purple background. As I mentioned in an earlier thread, Fuscia and Orange are the two colors that will never look good together because fuscia has no yellow and orange has no blue. One theory of color puts all shades into categories of blue or yellow, and a blue shade does not go well with a yellow shade.
That said, you WILL have contrast doing it this way and people will see the symbol more than if it were a blue/red rather than a yellow/red (think the difference between cherries and tomatoes).

thanks guys! after drinking another beer and pondering i came to the same conclusions.

the red is gone and i\'m using the same color as the cloak over it, just lighter shades than the cloak, this should make it less IN YOUR FACE, which the other red was. :D

doing the boarder in gold that should tie in the cloak with the mini and tighten up any fuzzyness in the edges. it\'s a very thin line of gold around the edges of the cloak now which hardly stands out but when you move it it reflects purty like. make it look very plush and expensive.

thanks for the color theory refresher vince. i knew it was wrong for some reason but could remember why for the life of me. i suppose to most theme conventions the magenta/violet was a mistake in the first place. the bottle said red, honestly! lesson here is scab red isn\'t

Your \"finished product\" turned out really nice! I\'d give him a 7 -7.5. There are still some more things that could have been done, but I completely understand the concept of \"Enough already!\" SOmetimes it\'s just time to move on, remembering lessons learned.

I would just like to add that your opening line to this thread had me more than a tad concerned :)
