Neil Hodgson\'s Stealth Suit from New WD

For those of you who have access to the new WD, take a look at the Stealth Suit on page 80. That may be the most inspired bit of painting I have seen in years. And only 10 hours

I can\'t post a scan of the page, as that would be rather illegal. But basically he has painted a stealth suit so that it looks invisble by painting on all the details of the terrain behind it. I know this has been done previously by people for things like frostblades etc (seem to remember that from the first CMON annual). But this is on a whole model and works really well

Well done Neil Hodgson :flip:

I was just thinking that the effect would be rather spoilt when you see the mini in real life and the only way to thoroughly appreciate the mini would be looking at the photograph.

Cool in it\'s own way, I guess (without having seen the mini in question). :)

painting styles which require only 1 specific viewing angle aren\'t bad! :D

I haven\'t seen this, but the mini seems designed for this. I had thought to try something similar but more like from predator (hard to explain). Maybe I\'ll try to talk my game store into letting me see the mini without buying the magazine...

Some WDs are, last month\'s UK issue wasn\'t ??? I\'ll buy it, because I\'m going to GW tomorrow to buy Games Day Tickets and GW coach tickets, plus parts for my radio guy. The mini sounds cool, I remember Neil Hodgson\'s SENMM battlesuit as well. beautiful stuff. He\'s a fantastic painter in fact :)

Yes...they are evil! EVIL!

I got some INAPs from Ainsty....that are cast in clear resin (INAP is the clever acronym for It\'s Not A Predator! but they are very similar). Great \'invisiblity\' effect...but rather boring for a painter.

Yep That\'s NeJoHo\'s steath suit.
I hope he can post it on here.
Last time I spoke to him he\'d changed jobs within GW and didn\'t have any Computer access.

yeah, that\'s HOT, I\'ve got to try this at some point. Inspired

the ONLY tiny thing I would have changed, was the front edge is missing the rivets of from the background. Adding those would totally complete the illusion.

The skull freehand at the bottom of the pillar is especially amazing.

Eric, you should DEFINETLY try something like this out, but do a more complicated background, like stained glass! lol

It is amazing how \'hard\' it is to see, especially on the edges (because of the the invisibility effect), but you are right about the rivets. Had I the skill, also I think another row of rivets or something on the wall directly behind the suit would help give the overall illusion of transparancy. Right now it is REALLY convincing only along the outer edge of that panel...

Still though...amazing, and most likely trendsetting...
