New Airbrush

Hello all,

I\'ve decided to upgrade my airbrush. I PM\'d airhead and he made some reccomendations for models and suppliers.

My primary use is for basecoating 28mm and painting 15mm armor with soft edge camo. I am also contemplating using my airbrush for some rudientary highlights at 28mm (I think specifically of Night Goblin robes).

I\'m also making the step up to 70mm models. The new line of Marvel Models has already caught the attention of my Visa card and the I\'ve pre-ordered Iron Man (Can\'t WAIT!).

SO, any suggestions out there? I\'m not afraid of spending to get the quality, but I am pretty sure I want to go with an IWATA brand.

I know this has been brought up a thousand times before, but I find that the answers typically differ based on the user requirements.

Thanks!

Actually I found a distributor that is only 20 min away in Martensville SK with great prices! And they\'re close enough I can go get \"Up in their grill!\" if things go sour. Great!

Scott, a local distributor is worth a lot. Much like a FLGS/FLCBS - it pays to shop there. Especially when it is Saturday afternoon and you just bent your last needle... on a project that is due Monday....

p.s. Always have a spare needle/cone.
(price them when you are looking at new guns.).

Aztek - no \"Saturday afternoon and I\'ve just bent my last needle.\" issues!

Sorry, couldn\'t resist :D

Sorry, I could\'ve deleted this thread. I got a good deal on an Iwata Hp-N from a local dealer. So far so good! Now I just need to get this....

Okay I settled on an Iwata Hp-B plus. I got it from Razertip industries in Martensville, SK, CA. I got a decent price I think (214$ CDN) plus some extra stuff on top of it.

I was upgrading from a badger 155. Was it worth it?

The Iwata upgrade is the best thing I\'ve done since I moved from synthetic crap brushes to Kolinsky WN 7\'s and Raphael 8404. It does make the badger look like a POS. I\'m gonna keep the badger for spraying terrain and big projects like that but other than those things it\'s now a dust magnet.

Anyone thinking of upgrading I heartily reccomend doing it. Amazing. I just had to run inside from the garage to write this. I\'m doing basecoats and highlights on 15mm armor and it wasn\'t possible with the Badger model at all.

Thanks to Einion and especially Airhead for the advice. I\'m grateful!

Plus I\'m friggin dizzy from the mix of Turpentine and Lighter fluid fizing Mig Pigments to the tanks as well. Thanks again!

An organic vapor rated mask is a must....

And change the cartridges about once a year. When not in use, keep it in a zip lock freezer bag. Otherwise the stuff in the air will use up the activated charcoal.
