The Empire General took a long time to paint, what with all the details I added in. I got it into my head that I had to try a burnished gold with a black patina and curly designs, all in NMM on the armor, and the cloth had to be blue and red checks and stripes.
I was unhappy with how orange the reds look. I was going for something a bit darker and cooler, but Jim convinced me that it worked well anyways.
I had a problem when it came time to assemble all the bits that I painted in separate pieces. The shield originally had a bird perched on it, and when I held that arm up to the shoulder to see how it fit, the bird and the fancy hat the guy wears were in the way. I had to cut the bird off the shield and repaint parts of the shield after filing off the bird feet. Aaargh!
....and I liked the bird too.
