new event coverage article: Crusade 2003

Hey friends!

I have updated my site with an article about last week\'s wargaming event \"Crusade 2003\", in Leopoldsburg, Belgium. It was also the first time I competed in a painting competition and I ended second in the single fantasy category with my Sered miniature (ID 30208). Not bad for a first time I guess

I think the correct translation for such a thing is called a spur. You know, a thing like this:

The painting competition was called \"Golden Spur Painting Competition\", and that is called after an important historical event in the Flemish history.

Unfortunately, the times I learned all this at school are somewhere in the distant past I don\'t remember that much about it

SHAME ON YOU!!! It was the Gulden sporen slag or Golden spur battle. The biggest and shortest battle in belgian history (1302). The Flemish people took up arms against the French (who annexed Belgium 2 years before). Peasants fought against French Knights and won! The first time in world history that such a thing happened.

The name of the batlle comes from the fact that the Belgian peasants killed a lot of French knights in fancy armour and the battlefield was litterd with their golden spurs afterwards.
