New \'Geek\' poll

Grumb and MarineBoy, I think I got ya\' both beat. I had all those models, plus the ship from Space:1999, the robot from Lost in Space, The Apollo 11, And ALL of the Star trek models; The Enterprise, The klingon Battlecruiser, the Romulan Bird of Prey, the Galileo shuttle, and... the glow-in-the-dark mystery ship. I sniffed al lot of glue back then... good times, good times. :D

Never saw Firefly, I\'m gonna have to look that up. Space:1999, Land of the Giants, and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea were great, but how can you call yourself geeks when you didn\'t remember The Time Tunnel?

I also notice no one bothered to mention Quantum Leap, Sliders, Time Cop, or The First Wave. You guys have something against the Sci/fi channel? The first three were good, but I think I\'m the only person who ever got into The First Wave; must be because I\'m a Nostradamus fan.

I know no one is going to believe this, but I actually watched that show UNTIL Tracey Lords joined the cast. It lost what little credibility it had. And besides, I kept waiting for her to take her clothes off; what was the point in giving her lines? ???

And when it comes to movies, who can forget Space balls, Mel Brooks last great effort. And of course there was that evil movie, Galaxy Quest with Tim Allen. I liked Tim, but then he made fun of Star Trek... the bastard!

lol:bouncy::flip:

Anybody remeber an old black and white series called the Invaders? Every time you killed one he burnt up and they couldn\'t bend their pinkies. I kept waiting on the sci-fi channel to rerun it.

Another oldie was the time tunnel.

Shawn, The Time Tunnel was very cool too!

Markus, never had the Tholian ship or the LIS Robot, but I did have the Space 1999 and man y Apollo models...and come off it, everybody\'s had the Enterprise! But did you have the 1/8 scale Spock with phaser model? (heh, heh...):D

You don\'t read too careful do you. I did mention that one.

How about favorite sci-fi cartoon? Galaxy Rangers! (Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys aint too bad though)

Hmmm. Let\'s see, obscure sci-fi shows not yet mentioned (and I don\'t have cable)...The Island of Dr. Shrinker, V, The Outer Limits (but not really a serial), The Prisoner was pretty sci-fi if surreal, Commando Codie: Sky Marshall of the Universe, The 6Million Dollar Man, followed by the Bionic Woman, My Favorite Martian, Thunderbirds, The Immortal (like the Fugitive with sci-fi leanings), Logan\'s Run (though the movie was better), Mork & Mindie...
Okay, I\'m just showing off now.
I\'m a geek and I\'m proud!

Oh, and who could forget Max Headroom?

Read the post above this one, I mentioned Time tunnel first! :p

Didn\'t see you mention Quantum Leap Vince, sorry... :(

@Marineboy - I might have had Spock... but I\'m not sure... ???
I remember the model VERY well, but don\'t remember it on my shelf. Maybe I just never put it together? I don\'t remember a tholian ship, did I miss that one?

@ Markus -- I\'m guessing that the glow-in-the-dark ship was the Tholia, from the Star Trek TOS episode \"The Tholian Web\". If it was pointy, that was the one.

Max Headroom was great!

My favorite recent cartoon? Ghost Planet, what a cut-up. Much better than the original Space Ghost series from the sixties.

Space 1999 was a keeper, Klute.

Anybody remember the British series UFO? Liked that one too. The boss\'s name was Ed Straker, if that helps at all.

I love that show!! I bought my man the dvd box set for Christmas last year. I\'m just disappointed that we don\'t have cars like that.

:D

If your gonna mention UFO (GREAT show, BTW), then we\'re going to have to include another British classic; The Avengers!

Sure, you may sneer and say \"that\'s not Sci/fi\", but I remeber at least two episodes with silly karate chopping robots.

And who didn\'t want to \'peel\' Emma Peel? :D

Brooks gets a pass for lampooning Star Wars, but you are mad about Galaxy Quest? Galaxy Quest was great IMO...

Can you really say that about Spaceballs??

Actually Vike, I thought Space Balls sucked. But it was Mel brooks, and his type of humor is no longer \'in style\'. I made my kids watch The Producers, and they didn\'t get it. Classic mel Brooks, but it just doesn\'t \'interpret\' very well today.

(Hmmmm, first the Oompa Loopa thread where we mention Gene Wilder, then the Ann Bancroft thing, now we come full circle with Wilder in another Brooks production, this forum is scarey sometimes)

Galaxy Quest was good, I guess... But they made fun of Star Trek! That\'s practically Sacrilege in my book. :(

Just kidding, anyone who pokes fun at William shatner\'s ego is alright in my book, even Shatner himself! lol

Who called her a \'Prostitute\'????
It\'s \'Companion\'! Her services, and I wish I could remember the exact quote....

\"If you refer to me as a prostitute one more time, I will remove all of your vital organs and make you eat them. Sex is not the only service that I offer, nor is it the only one that people seek me for. I am a provider of comfort, of friendship, of conversation, of tenderness. The only time sex becomes a part of my services is if /I/ choose it.\"

Re: Quantum Leap -- The last episode ruined the whole series for me. Sam got home, no matter what they said in the show.

Re ST: TNG -- The first episode started off filming with Patrick Stewart doing his lines with a french accent, but it was decided that it was too corny sounding, so they had him switch back to his own accent in the sound room. He does, however, speak very good french several times in the series, albeit briefly. And even gets away with cursing in french a couple of times.
