New GW Giant

So what does everyone think to this new beast, i have to say i prefer it much more compared to the old giant, and considering it is plastic just sweetens the deal.

Who of you out there thought of Ultraforges giant when they saw this?, i think it is the large areas of blank skin on the chest??? (but to be fair i think that is where the similarities end)

Eitherway I thought i would share this for those who hadnt seen it:

Err....why does the giant look like an oversized starving child from a third world country?

The old one was big, this one looks like it hasn\'t had a meal in a loooong time and has had it\'s stomach distended.

I prefer the ones from Reaper - I\'ve just never really seen a GW Giant I liked. Now their ogres on the other hand . . . . .

I never did like any of the GW giants. I build my own. This one seems to be the worst of a bad bunch. I think they just stretched and ogre pic in their laser cutter and used that for the template. My CMON rating would be a 4

Actually, I like the old one and the one they came out with in 2000. This one isn\'t that great.

Now, if it was the giant that the guy here made...you,know the one Forge World ripped off... I would but it in a heatr beat. Just get rid of those stupid nurgle symbols first. A friend and I want his badly.

If I had a couple of hundred pounds of unsupported belly hanging down, mine would probably be distended too (but without the hundreds of pounds, why is it distended now??! ???)

Giatns would prbably need some extra ribs extending downwards to keep their belly from dragging.

All that said, I like green stuff\'s giant better... and Sophia\'s UltraForg giant.

Hmmm, can\'t say I\'m particularly impressed either. Giants seem to be one of those things that its hard to do well for some reason.

More worryingly does anyone else think that the paintjob looks like its photoshopped? It looks very fake. I wouldn\'t be surprised if the whole thing had been \'painted\' in photoshop...

It looks neat, but not my thing really. I think maybe the proportions just throw me off, maybe thicker legs and arms would help the miniature overall.

As for it being photoshoped .. dunno, could be, but some of you guys seem to really be able to knock out stuff that I would swear wasn\'t possible so I\'m certainly not one to say one way or another!

Hi,

Although the paintjob is very well done, the sculpt itself is very ugly in my opinion. Looks like a big slim GW-ogre, and you know no one around here likes GW-ogres much ;)

Yeah, I have to agree with the dislike of the gut sentiment. What\'s with GW and their fat arsed figs lately? I\'m suprised their new dwarves arent just balls with beards. Fat is fine just morbidly obese, man tits and a gut that hangs to your knees isnt all that interesting and not likely for any sort of \"warrior\", ogre or otherwise.

Aside from the gut I do like the model. Some bulking out of the shoulders/chest might make it work for me if I ever pick it up and feel like getting down with some sculpting. The plastic sprues have tonnes of cool bitz and the face is great.

Nice job Anja.

I dont mind the sculpt at all.
Remember guys have any of you actually seen a giant ?
I\'m sure if a giant did exist it would have odd proportions.
I am on sculpting a giant myself and doing a lot of anatomy on it I have realised how hard it is to make something out of proportion while still making it look \"plausable\".

Saying that I do think the belly is too large, but not by much.

Oh and the comparisons to the Ultra Forge one will be totally coincidental. If this is a plastic kit then it has been in planning for a long time.

The best thing about this giant however is the second accessory sprue you get with it, its crammed full of additional parts that make it a converters dream! there more buzz about the accessory sprue that the giant on some forums.

Pics of the sprues

Depends on what you\'re calling a Giant. Andre the Giant count? Personally I think that the general proportions would be about the same - an upscaled human to a degree - and the arguments about bigger legs, etc make sense in the toting that much extra meat around sense.

Hmmm, i cant say what i`m absolutely dont like this giant. He just looking very naked, not enough extradetails on the body. But have and good side - this is large place for freehandlol

Well, I can promise you it\'s not painted in photoshop. And I know because I painted it.

I did admit to thinking along the same lines as Trevor! It looks as if there\'s a PS smart blur or something going on.....maybe it\'s just the pic reduction

Maybe we\'re not used to seeing such quality painting from the Heavy Metal team!!! :D:D

What other pieces have you done since you\'ve been there, Anja?
