I have read the book and loved it but i can imagine the first film (it'll be two films) being the less exciting of the two. Still it'll be awesome to watch, but i was hoping for more action in the trailer to make me want to watch it more.

The Hobbit brings back a much less complicated time for most of us.
And honestly, it has that fairy tale feel to it throughout. More like the old Grimm stuff than the new fluffy stuff but fun.

Totally what I thought as well, and that change of mood sits perfectly with the tone of the book. It does make me wonder what Del Toro would have done with it, because there are few who do fairytale as well as him, but I find it impossible to lament the loss of him as a director after what Jackson did on LoTR. Not long to go until next December...
