New-ish Golden paints...

Golden acrylics has a line of paints that they are calling Golden Open paints. They are a slower drying acrylic. I\'ve used a alkyds which are fast drying oils and liked them but haven\'t wanted to invest in ANOTHER line of paints.

Has anyone tried these? If so, what\'s your assesment?

Read a lot about these (and their major competitor, Atelier Interactives) in the art forums. Unfortunately for our purposes the pigmentation on the Opens seems to be a bit lacking, and that\'s even for people working a lot thicker than we do

@freakinacage, you can get hours in the right conditions but not in very thin films. More here.

I have used golden paints - not sure if they are the ones you are talking about.

Einion is exactly right about their pigmentation though - MANY layers needed to get good coverage (MANY!!!!!)

I talked to a company rep at a local art store lately and they said with \'normal\' thickness for canvas painting - not put on with a trowel or thin as watercolors - you had about 15-20 minutes more or less.

@Einion (what does that name mean?) I\'ve used Golden for quite a while and been very happy with their coverage. Curious to see how these are in usage. Seems I usually need to do a lot of layering on mini\'s anyway so I\'ll be curious to see if there is a difference.
