Seriously, Poupée Canope has taken the fantasy no 1 spot, with the first 9.8 scoring fantasy mini, knocking Goatman into second. Congratulations Poupée!

At the risk of starting another argument, there\'s been some shuffling in the top rankings, with Goatman slipping from 1st to third, Victoria back at 1st and Alexi into 2nd. Basically there\'s less than 0.01 of a point between these at the moment (with fredy in 4th a massive 0.04 of a point behind 3rd place), so its a photo finish, but with Alexi being so prolific, my monies on her to take the top spot.

For those with a mathematical mind, Goatmans score dropped by 0.02 of a point since yesterday, which with 8942 votes total is a massive drop in one day (actually I\'m serious, if you do the maths, a 0.02 drop is quite large with so many votes, and yes I know not all those votes are for his top 5). I wonder whats causing these fluctuations in the top minis? Maybe its a government conspiracy? Are they trying to divert our attention? Maybe GW really are about to take over the world? Who knows? Who cares? ???

Anyway, all hail the top 50, way better than I\'ll ever be.

I was hoping you had taken over- and had you cheated to do it- I\'da still backed you. (It would have been like the KobeAshiMaru scenario in Trek II where Kirk cheated to win the unwinnable).
Its all fair in love and war baby--- or have I said publicly marks don\'t matter(hah)lol

I have noticed the fluctuation and wondered. looks more or less like a fanboy voting/sniping war. a bit sad I say.

I think you\'ve nailed it. I just hope that this won\'t end like at Créafigs; they stopped the voting function. I know that it\'s all relatif, and the votes shouldn\'t be taken too seriously, but it\'s also a quick way to find top notch minis in the search function. Plus I think it stimulates everybody to do better.

green stuff: I agree. But I doubt they will stop the voting function as that is more or less the backbone of the site.

The more people say that the system and ranking doesn’t matter, the more sniping and voting from personal issues will be legitimated. I take the mini-posts of each and every one on this site seriously and I hope people take what I do seriously too. Cmon is a one of a kind site.. there is no other place like this for us.

I am proud in what I do and \"painting toy soldiers\" is like any other hobby/art/sport. What we love will stirr emotions.. and that is nothing to be ridiculed about. Keep it polite and keep it coming.. :)

and say after me: I am a minipainter and I am proud!

Yeah, Mini painter and proud to be :p Even if that means I have to take the playmobil jokes from girlfriends :p
And yes the ranking is definetly important to motivate people, but it shouldn\'t be important enougth to get worked up about 10-20 ranks difference. Like the pirate code, it\'s there but you don\'t paye too much attention to it :p

The ranking might not be as important to us but you can bet that those in the top 50 find it a hell of a lot more important.
As Eric pointed out it takes a lot of tens for a 9.6 mini with lots of votes to go to 9.7.
Ive decided now that I dont care cos the powers that be dont seem to care.It doesnt effect me so Im not going to twist about it.

I enjoy painting miniatures and Im proud of nearly every one I paint.
Stick the scores and ranking up yer arses for want of a better phrase.
If I had Goatman\'s hands and Alexi\'s tits I would be in the top 50 and I might think differently.
But I dont,so I dont.:)

heh.. :) I don\'t think there\'s been much arguing over rankings and scores, more the way people achieved them. If someone have a dubious movement from 556 to 539 that won\'t give much emotions..(and hardly get noticed) while a climb to no.1 will. If I draw a parallel to sports. It is the difference between Ben Johnson and the national indoor champion of monaco. ;)

I don\'t care that much of the top ranking..who\'s no. 1 and so forth, as I know it has a lot to do with personal preference, skill vs style and who takes the best photos, fanboys/girls.. and all the rest. But I do take it seriosly and don\'t mind people having opinions about it. It is also a sense of respect for the achievments of those individuals that paints several hours a day and try to push their work to another level.. and those who try to make a living out of it. The cmon score affects the price of an auction etc. I don\'t mind those who don\'t care either.. as long as they don\'t abuse the system. What I don\'t like is people telling other people what to feel and what is an important issue or not. We all define the forums from why we are here.. and that question can only be answered by us as individuals.

ere we go again - a passionate plea!

I come to CMON for three things

1 - to be impressed with the artistry of others

2 - for inspiration to improve my own paltry offerings

3 - for the companionship on the forums

Scoring helps with the second in that I can measure improvements (if any) in my own work (mainly against myself not against others).

I could really care less who is number one, two, three, etc. but do care to see what they produce and marvel at their technique and inventiveness which I try to emulate.

Please don\'t get bent out of shape by the shifting of a few decimal points - this is not the Olympics or even the world championships- there are all sorts of contests and competitions out there for that - Golden Demons, CC, Reaper, etc.

This continual harping on about scores is souring the forums for me and I am bored rigid by it.

If people need to continually aire this could they at least have the courtesy to post in the Feedback/Bugs/Wish List forum - it seems to fit better there - and I rarely go there!

As it is I may have gone the way of others before I get the chance to see what great new vistas open to me when I reach Seniority:D

Finn.. That is one of my favourite works yet on this site.. And I don\'t think anyone has accused him of cheating or discussed his scores.. the topic seems split right now.. discussing the the \"top artist\" and giving honest congrats to Poupée was the initial topic if I haven\'t misinterpreted trevor.

Nomis: I don\'t think many people get bent out of shape of some fluctuations in score.. I have seen just a few.. there seem to be more people getting bent out of shape of this very discussion.

As there is a ranking system, this could be viewed by some as a competition in some sort. As is the world-ranking of tennis or any other sport. I\'m afraid it is unavoidable that a forum on a site that is so based around scores and ranking will deal with scores. I just suggest you skip these topics if you want get a more pleasant visit. :) I\'ll probably do it from now on.. but on the other hand, I do like to discuss. ;)

Well it is remarquable technicaly, but somehow I don\'t get any big \"WOW\" factor when looking at this one. Guess it\'s not my type of mini :p Still gave it a 10 though ;)
