New Ophidian

I am the n00b formerly known as shoe. I, er, lost my password and for some reason unbeknownst to me, can not get the password reset email to go through. I even tried contacting CMON, but the ever so helpful bot just picked up my keywords and told me to use the password reset function.

Anyhoo, I digress. I finally got the gumption to tackle S\'Ygma, my second ophidian.

Here he is:

I\'m kinda happy with him. Okay, I\'m really happy with him. I\'ve been painting about a month now, and I was just really pleased with how I\'ve improved from my first model.

I need some hints, though. As you can see, I do have a slight pattern on him. I would have liked it to be more pronounced. Would have liked it if he showed more skin, too, but that\'s the fault of the sculpt. My first instinct is to use bolder colors next time, but I don\'t know if that\'s how I\'d get the most desired effect. I would have liked it to be just a BIT more noticeable.

I would have taken work in progress pics, but my husband was at a Con and took the camera.

I would have liked a little more contrast on his head, too, but it was hard with the scalation there. I think I am helped in that I am very familiar with \"real\" snakes, and I\'m also really sort of hindered by that same fact. Mainly on the head, which I look at and say, \"No snake on earth is designed like this...\" Then, not too many have arms and carry parasols, either.

So what do you think, for next time around?

Once again you\'re showing a great amount of skill so early into the hobby. I love the green/blue/purple combination and blending - nice and bright but fitting for the mini too. A little more shading on the green robes might be needed (maybe just the photo). As before, the snake parts are excellent.

As for passwords, a colleague emailed me this yesterday...

The Perfect Password.
A woman was helping her husband set up his computer, and at the appropriate point in the process, told him that he would now need to Enter a password..Something he will use to log on. The husband was in a rather amorous mood and figured he would try for the shock effect to bring this to his Wife\'s\' attention.
So, when the computer asked him to enter his password, he made it plainly obvious to his wife that he was keying in
P...
E...
N..
I...
S...
His wife fell off her chair laughing when the computer replied:
***PASSWORD REJECTED. NOT LONG ENOUGH***
lol

Thanks for the input, all. Still trying to get the hang of glazes and such, but it is at least helping... a LOT... that I\'ve finally mastered the art of applying paint so that it doesn\'t look too thick. I am sort of headshy about that.

Thanks!
