The pirate ork is Baddrukk and the other big one with two knives is Snikrot. Both are special characters - Snikrot can lead Kommandos and Baddrukk is the Freebotoer Kaptin of the Flash Gits, although I thought his armor was made from melted down gold teef? Some sweet stuff here.

dude...

I need to finish my ork army! I like the new wagon but I still like to see people make their own custom wagon. I made my own wagon a couple years ago, I should pst some pics of it. It is so large that it does not fit in a normal deployment zone when placing troops :D It can actually hold 40 orks.

Great paint on poor minis for me. Why does everything they produce these days have to be so blinged out and festooned with stuff?

I really like the idea of the piratey freebooter ork, but the thing is drowned in detail. There\'s no focal point because there are too many if that makes sense.

Not keen on the vehicles either!

I think I know what you mean Munkie. The Freebooter reminds me of a John Blanche painting, it has every cliche of the race in a single character :D It just screams 2nd edition though, which I like. I\'ll probably chop off and simplify the back banner, it seems a bit unnecessary. The rest is pure gold though.

Snikrot is pretty cool. Funky headgear, but the rest is badass. Re: Battlewagons? I like the open topped version, but not the closed top/turret design. I think if I break down and do Orks any time soon I\'ll be bulking out the middle section of any Wagons rather than adding the turrets on top.

I want... I want.... I want!!!!

Those special characters are just great... though maybe I should actually do something with the piles of ork bits I already have before buying more :)

Anyone know when this stuff is due for release? I\'m guessing four or five months from now based on previous \'sneek peeks\' at games days?

A quote from Bell of Lost Souls.

\"The following Ork models will be released on January 3, 2009 according to the \"new release\" board in US GW stores as of today:

- Ork Battlewagon $50
- Ork Nobz $25

A bit more good news is that the preview models of the Ork Battlewagon should be appearing in GW stores shortly, perhaps within a day or so. When this happens, pictures will appear here again for your comments and discussion. In the meantime, you may be interested to know, assuming you haven\'t already discovered this for yourself, that the Ork Battlewagon appears fully assembled and painted in the \"Tale of Four Gamers\" article in the current issue of US White Dwarf #346. Have a great weekend!\"

I think it somewhat has to do with the paintjob. Too many distracting details, all painted like individual pieces. I like the hat, though.

Wow!! I thought I was the only one who thought that. Some fig\'s are just a pile of well sculpted \'stuff\' with, as you say, no focal point. One of my earliest and most influential teachers told me that a good artist knows what to LEAVE OUT!!

i know what you mean but i think thats the point. these are chavs as far as orks go and proudly display their finery. they have the character of the old stuff but with better sculpting imo. i don\'t like his back banner though

That\'s fair enough, but you can convey that message far more minimally than they have done. This is the sculptural equivalent of a ten minute guitar solo by some fading cock-rocker....

Perhaps he would benefit from a simpler paint job. I might paint him just to find out :D
