Hi there I have not used the forums much but I want to improve my painting skills. I would like comments and crits on my latest piece please. I just started using a wet palette and highlighting. I know my photos need work also. http://www.coolminiornot.com/159900

You have the basics down. A couple of things to try off the bat is the finish the base. Even if you had dry brushed it green or brown it would look better. Also you tartan could use a little cleaning up to make the lines straighter. Still its a nice clean job. Did the vote thing.

I am currently working on the base know I found a nice gray rock that would fit perfectly and put some tall grass next to it. I also glued it to a 40k round base for some more room. I plan on making it snowy.

I\'ve actually painted this mini and it was a lot of fun. The face is a good sculpt. Look pretty good. I\'d clean up the tartan a bit. There a tutorial here on tartans that I found really helpful. So far it\'s good!

Can\'t help you too much on the painting tips as I am still working on most of the techniques myself. One thing is that his boots look like they have some good texture, but it isn\'t showing up because everything looks dark. It may be a lighting issue for your photo, but I would probably take the boots up a highlight or two to bring out their detail and also to make them stand out a bit from the rest of the dark clothing.
