New to mini\'s

Hey everyone! I didn\'t see a newbie section so hopefully it\'s ok I posted in here. I\'m amazed by the amount of talent here and everyday I\'m motivated to push my limits and try something new with painting. I\'ve learned alot here and hope to contribute something in return. If you get a chance take a look at my (1 mini so far) gallery. Tell me whatcha think of it..good or bad. I\'m here to learn

Welcome to CMON! I\'ve looked at your miniature and I think you\'re off to a very good start. The mini is painted in a rather simple way, but you\'ve painted it very neatly and show a good understanding of the most basic techniques. You\'ve got a solid foundation to build from. The base shows even more promise. The ice and snow is very well done. If anything, I\'d say it\'s a bit large and empty. As there is only one mini on it (wouldn\'t call it a diorama) I think it would be more effective if it was smaller, as that would put the focus more clearly on the miniature.

Keep up the good work, try to paint as much as you can, as practice is key! Stick around and ask questions.

i second that, ritual is absolutely right. your base is just too empty , next time add more elements: snow covered plants, a tree stump, etc..

Thanks for the replies fellas..I really appreciate the suggestions. I will keep that in mind to add more elements on my next mini...which hopefully I will be starting sometime this week. I\'ll make sure to post pics.

Very neat, thats half the battle won right there, now you need to experiment with shading more until you get a good contrast. Enjoy your stay !

Not a bad start at all, squire! I reckon you need to go nuts now - on a miniature that is. Play with the contrast, taking it to extremes. Go wild, son!
