Howdy there!

As I near the end of painting the Chaos Daemon Spearhead, it\'s recently hit me that I actually want to start using them to play. I got the rule book as well as the codex and I\'ve been sifting through it. I\'ve got the rules down pretty well but the choices out there for an effective chaos daemon army are daunting.

If anyone could help me put together a good \"starter\' demon horde, I\'d greatly appreciate it! I\'m looking for something that can move fairly well, take some punishment, and finally, dish it back.

So far I have everything that comes in the spearhead box, but for core I have a unit of 10 demonettes and a unit of 10 bloodletters.

I\'m going for 1000 pts. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Getting a herald for each unit is a good start. The special bonuses they give to the daemons in their unit makes them a mus have.

Thanks Dave :)

Sounds good. I currently have a unit of bloodletters (10) with a mounted herald on a juggernaught (ugh! I love that model).

Khorne Bloodletters: 150 + Skull Totem (25pts) = 175 pts.

Herald of Khorne: 150 pts + lovely Etherblade (50pts)= 200 pts.

Then to bring some fun into it, I have a unit of demonettes along with a herald for that crew of lovelies. I\'ll tweak them a little bit before I post.

Any C&C is greatly appreciated! Also, is there any good army builders out there for fantasy? I have one for 40k but haven\'t found one for WHFB.

Cheers,

Jake

Try and get your units upto 20 strong, or at minimum 15, 10 strong units wont cut it.

A herald in each unit for the bonus, also the khorne hearld on jugger w/ armor is very tough.

Might be worth considering a unit of horror so you can stick a herald in with a scroll. Or maybe add a herald of T on his own and just hide him (he cant join non-T units).

Soul grinders are horrible if you can squeeze one in. a standard greater daemon would be a good choice too if you can afford one.

I agree with kaine your units need to be bigger.

At least 15 strong then with the herald makes 16 (nice 4ranks of 4)

Anything smaller wont last against anything with an ounce of firepower.

a squad of horrors would immensely help your casting, and in a small 1000pts game having a little extra edge in that phase often could win you the game.

skulltaker i find is amazing value if you can squeeze him in, though may cause taking out the herald on bloodletter.

but really the core is made with 3x15 units (deamonettes, bloodletters and horrors) each with herald, then the last few points use up on maybe something a little more special. depending what way you want your army to go
