New Vallejo Colors

Is it me or.. wait lemme finish!... are the \"new \" vallejo colors nothing but Citadel rip-offs? Point being there are 60 GW colors (without inks, metallics) and that\'s the same number of new colors.. not only that but the color and names are almost exactly the same. Take \"Falcon Turqouise\" for example, almost exactly like \"Hawk Turqouise\" is it not? While other color companies take off the names sometimes, none have come this close in my opinion. But, I do see how this is a good thing too, as many of us would like similar colors in the vallejo bottles and this solves that problem. But will GW, money grubbing weasels they are, figure this out and sue? Seems as though they have a strong case, but then again I\'m probably just paranoid from the dentist drugs right now... Y\'know I just figured out I am the \"ow\" in \"now\".. :p

I noticed this as well, and instantly formed the following conspiracy theory:

when the GW contract with its current paint manufacturer runs out, they\'ll be ready to subcontract it to vallejo who\'ll have the paint range ready and just requiring new stickers.

may not be in anyway acurate, still i think that\'d be great if happened. Either way I\'m tempted to go and buy some of their new range, I\'m so sick of the citadel bottles!

well duh! :)

I can\'t wait to get my hands on some of these. Basically, it\'s the best of both worlds: familiar colours and high quality paints/bottles.

As for the legal issues, I don\'t think GW has a case, because Vallejo has changed the names [just!] enough to dodge the copyright issues. (Bald Moon Yellow indeed!) Anyway, I think GW deserves to lose a little money to Vallejo after selling their paints in those idiotic bottles.

Unfortunately, unless Vallejo improves their availability most people will probably not be switching over from their Citadel paints.

Personally, I prefer the \"old\" vallejo line, just cause GW only has 3 colors of red, and they\'re too close for me. Vallejo has... well, Haven\'t counted yet. Same goes for almost any color. Yeah, I know you can mix with the eyedropper, but if they\'re that close in pigment, why bother?
