New WIP Thread

My other WIP threads have been bits of random stuff, time to make one large WIP thread m'thinks. So, here it is!

To start it off, I've started to re-work a piece I started ages ago but that has been on the bench for most of the time. I was tying to do the whole model in NMM based off Darren's guide in WD. This although a great guide was not working for me for this particular model, like I said, great guide and it's taught me a lot, but trying to replicate it on this model was not working for me. SO, I decided about an hour ago, to do my own take on it and twist it so that it fits. I've only really started proper work on the abdominals and chest area so far, the rest you can consider as base coated.

Feedback, as always is always appreciated! Yes, I'm going for SE-NMM on him now, I think it'll work out. I've also changed the paints I'm using, so the mix is also different to the guide now, I think the colours so far are working out. The abs are still in the defining (sketching stage) and have not had glazes / tints applied yet, those will come later once I've got the whole model to around this point and I'm happy with horizon / reflection placement.

Now, time for food - I am peckish! :)

Righto, the last picture was shite, taken on my phone, so I did a little bit more work for tonight and took a photo using my camera. Here's where the paintings at for tonight, will do more on it after work later today.

Looking pretty good! Even at this clearly early stage. (sorry just had to say that)

I expect you will add in the reflection of the 'scarf' in later? Or are you going to keep the SENMM stylized? Not entirely sure what your idea with the torso is though..and the arm perhaps could be broken up a little, so you don't have a large flat area like that.
Like for instance a less straight line like on the abs, remember they're reflecting the same 'environment', you could also seperate the biceps and give the surface beneath it's own curved reflection. Tell me if you want a (digital) paintover to explain what I mean.

Challenging project, looking forward to see how this turns out!

Fancied taking a break from Daramis, so I started this GW necromancer today. Should have him finished by Monday I reckon given I've got work over the weekend. Going for a smooth look, not sure if I'll add much texture or not. Just a fun quick miniature to paint over the weekend between work.

Realy like the SENMM on the c'tan deceiver is it?

Don't know if this helps but I shaded the gold I did with purple washes and must have done three or four realy dilute washes of sunburst yellow all over the gold; also olive greens and blues work well in the shadows. Probably teaching grandma to suck eggs here as you look ahead of me on your SENMM.

Will be following this one;)

That's a kick-ass Vindi, there. I think it's maybe a bit too weathered for an imperial tank (as according to the fluff the techmarines revere their vehicles in a religious fashion, and so would never, ever allow it to get that dirty.) For a nurgle vehicle, otoh, its perfect. I'm a big fan of heavy weathering on minis, btw, so my vote is keep it as-is and call it Nurgle, rather than redo it in a tidier manner just to call it Blood Angels. That's just a fluff comment, though. In terms of painting it's lovely :)

Glad you like it man :)

As for fluff - Baal is meant to be a super dusty red desert so, if they're driving through there on training missions or other desert worlds then they'll get that weathered before the Techmanrines clean them up or during a battle they'll get pretty muddied up - at least that was my idea when doing the weathering.
