New Year, new blog

Hullo, hope everyone is enjoying 2013 so far. I've finally snapped myself into work mode after an extended holiday and launched a new blog. I bashed it together this afternoon, so it's entirely possible there are a few errors, but I thought I'd stick a link here and see if anyone had thoughts about how it looks so far. Hopefully it should have plenty of updates over the coming days, weeks and months. If all goes well I'm even going to venture into the world of videos for unboxings and other such fun stuff.

And I have added a fair old update. More pictures of more ogres on the blog should anyone be interested. :)

I know it's terribly crass to blow ones own trumpet, but I think I've done quite a good job of making a good looking force from the new Dark Angels. I've been busy putting out loads of bloggy type posts showing them, so if Dark Angels are your thing, why not take a look? My painting tally for the month so far is:

20 Ogres
Dark Talon
Nephilim Jetfighter
Vengeance
Darkshroud
Belial
Asmodai
5 Deathwing command
5 Deathwing Knights
5 Dark Vengeance Deathwing
3 Black Knights
3 Ravenwing command
Land Raider
Land Raider Crusader

You can see 'em all in the blog - http://jambotindustries.blogspot.co.uk/

I've made a second blog post in my Prelude to Chaos series about the new WoC models. This time around I talk about my different building processes for models and how I use things like sub-assemblies, dry-fitting and painting on the sprue to make life much easier. I break it all down by planning the best way to paint the new Chariots. Hopefully some folks will find it interesting. Possibly even useful! If anyone has thoughts and feedback please let me know. :)

Despite the miniature itself minging you've done a great job on the wing eagle detail on the nephilim (the one with the silly inboard church). The whole stormy sky lightning looks really good and very fitting for a grim dark universe.

Thanks for moving the thread, I wholeheartedly agree. :) With any luck I'll get better at dishing out tips (though I feel dangerously under qualified to do so!) and can work in some funky new multimedia bits soon too. I have plans, just need the time. :)

Time is short because I got a frankly ludicrous amount of the new Chaos models and I've started to blog my progress as I paint them. I'm working on 3 standard Chariots, 3 Gorebeast Chariots, 12 Dragon Ogres and 2 lords right now. Things are going fairly well.

You can see more in my blog post should you so desire. :)

Looks better then the studio scheme.

But the model is soooo bad that there is no saving it. Even thou you polished away, it still looks sh..!

Haha! I'll take that as a victory :) I kinda like the model in its own special way, but I can certainly think of ways it could have been improved on and made a bit more Warhamme.

I will say this though, the way the kit goes together is beyond awesome and GW are light years ahead of any other wargames company I've encountered in terms of plastic casting quality and clever hiding of joins on their big kits. Have to give credit where it's due, that's a majorly good thing when you make as many models as I do!

No one is disputing that. Just wish they spent as much time on the looks as they do on the technically anal stuff.

oh and Wyrd miniatures new plastic boxes are on par with GW's, if not better in places technically. And i just spent a few hours oogling a mates plastic Leviathan from Dreamforge Games and wholy s*** that thing blows every single plastic model for gaming out of the water.

I've not been as impressed with the Wyrd plastics as you have to be honest. I don't feel the detail is quite as defined somehow, a bit difficult to describe but it doesn't look like it's quite as 'deep' if you know what I mean. Some of the poses and fine parts are pretty cool though.

The Leviathan does look impressive for sure. Missed the Kickstarter due to having absolutely no spare cash, otherwise I'd have enjoyed painting one.

I agree on the lack of detail on some areas. But considering they have only been making plastic for what 6 months i am impressed. Also i find that they manage poses and looks better then GW. Given the fact they are using the same machines as GW, i foresee big things in future.

In general alot of small companies have begun to make pladtic minis, and while they are inferior to GW they are also ALOT cheaper.

And the hideous prices and increasing poor buisness ethics is doing more to drive me away from GW then wishywashy models are.
